REVISED SCHEDULE FOR:

Cecil Taylor In-Residence Program

DAYTON, Ohio, March 23, 1971 --- A one week in-residence program with Cecil

Taylor, internationally known jazz composer and musician, will be held March 29

through April 2 at the University of Dayton. The program is sponsored by the

University Art Series and is under the direction of Professor Carolyn Faust, an

instructor in the music division of the performing and visual arts department.

The main feature of the week will be a concert Wednesday, March 31, at

8:15 p.m. in the Kennedy Union Ballroom. Taylor will also hold private consul­

tations with any interested perso~Thursday and Friday, April 1 and 2. All

lectures and classes during the week are open to the public.

The complete revised schedule of events for the Cecil Taylor In-Residence

Lecture on "Chance Transplant of African Music to Amerioa" and "Religious Aspects of Black Music" in the Kennedy Union Ballroom.

Panel discussion with Cecil Taylor, faculty and students on "Jazz in America Today" in the Kennedy Union Ballroom.

Speak in Musical Styles Class in Choir Room of the Music Building.

Conduct a Drum Clinic in the Kennedy Union Cafeteria -Tentative.

Speak in Music Appreciation Class in Choir Room of the Music Building.

Concert by Cecil Taylor and his jazz unit in first floor lounge of Marycrest Hall. Taylor on piano; James Lyons, alto sa~ and flute; Sam Rivers, tenor sax and flute; Andrew Cyrille, percussionist.

Lecture on "Poetry" in Kennedy Union Ballroom. Taylor will read some of his own compositions.

Speak in Music Appreciation and Contemporary Music Classes in Choir Room of Music Building.
