On behalf of the Child Cancer Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 19th Champions Luncheon and to thank you for your support.

You should never underestimate the difference your support makes to the children with cancer and their families. The support you provide has a direct effect in making their lives that little bit easier at a time of great stress and anxiety. The Child Cancer Foundation receives no direct government funding, so relies on the generosity of individuals, grants, donations, sponsorships, and events like this to raise the money to fund the services the Foundation provides.

As a parent who has been through the cancer journey with their child, I can attest to the fact that it is something that you hope no other child or family ever has to go through. However, we all know that cancer doesn’t discriminate and can strike any child at any time. Every week in New Zealand three families are told the devastating news that their child has cancer. Thanks to your generous support, the Child Cancer Foundation is there for each child, and their family, from that terrible time of diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond.

I hope that you enjoy your time with us this afternoon and give generously to enable us to continue to provide support for all our children with cancer and their families.
