Islanders of all ages will be able to try new sports and activities and learn about staying healthy at the ‘Jersey WellFest’. The 1st Jersey Wellfest is an event with free entry at the Les Ormes Resort that takes place on Saturday 27th of October 2018, to coincide with World Mental Health Day. The event includes talks, workshops, interactive market stalls and activities on staying mentally and physically fit.

Being led by the States of Jersey’s Health and Community Services Department and Children, Young People, Education and Skills and supported by other wellbeing partners including Mind Jersey, the Bosdet Foundation, Jersey Sport, Les Ormes and Valley Adventure Centre to promote mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

The event will include a range of health, wellbeing, lifestyle and sports activities including:

• WORKSHOPS, TASTER SESSIONS AND INSPIRATIONAL TALKS

• INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS, STALLS AND ACTIVITIES

• AN ARENA WITH DISPLAYS AND PRESENTATIONS

Try an activity or talk in each area to get the most out of Jersey Wellfest 2018.There is strong evidence that thinking about all 3 areas together is better for your health and wellbeing.

You must obtain a FREE ticket via Eventbrite for either a morning or afternoon session and provide your ticket via online or paper copy on arrival.

Mind JerseyAn independent local charity that provides support to people living with a mental health problem. Our vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, and that treats people with experience of mental illness fairly, positively and with respect.

Headway JerseyA charity that provides essential support, information and services to people in who are affected by brain injury.

L.I.N.C Mental Health and Wellbeing A specialist mental health and wellbeing provider offering counselling, psychotherapy, mental health nursing and digital services for adults and young people.

Autism Jersey A charity dedicated to the assistance and support of people on the autism spectrum. Provides support for families, individuals and carers, including bespoke services and support packages for both adults and children.

Silkworth Lodge Charity Group Provides a range of services supporting those within the local community that suffer with drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Human Health ChiropracticA family practice based in St Peter. Caring for practice members throughout their lives, from birth to old age educating them and connecting them with other health professionals along the way.

Psychology and Well-being Service Three teams come together to comprise PAWBS, namely: Educational Psychology, Well-being and Primary Mental Health. All teams share a common drive to support and empower children and young people to further develop their social and emotional skills, well-being, voice and sense of self. Service delivery is typically offered in partnership with a variety of other agencies, particularly schools.

Jersey Recovery College Offers free education and training opportunities to adults experiencing mental health difficulties and the family, friends and professionals who support them. They are providing a talk.

BODYSwim Academy at Les OrmesA learn to swim programme for all ages. Various lesson throughout the day including the mermaid sessions where you can learn how to swim like a mermaid with your friends.

Jersey Sport Lead, champion and enable participation and excellence in sport for all, inspiring an active Jersey. A variety of activities are available throughout the day.

Valley Adventure Centre Set in a secluded and stunning natural valley. The centre offers a fantastic range of adventure activities. Offering 9 sessions of their assault course.

Chirpy’s CricketA “fun first” cricket programme designed for boys and girls aged 3-7 years old, aimed to develop fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching and batting.

Oxygen Therapy A charity that provides support to people with a variety of Neurological and Long Term medical conditions.

Jersey Alzheimer’s AssociationA local charity for people whose lives are affected by dementia, helping and supporting people with dementia, their families, friends and carers.

Stephen Le QuesneMSc a Naturalist and Forest school Leader who specialises in outdoor education and the role of nature within our families, communities and well-being.

Victims Support and Witness Service Provides support to people affected by crime either directly or indirectly so this covers a broad spectrum of the community.

Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust Recovering threatened wildlife, reviving fragile ecosystems and reconnecting people with nature to restore the wonderful colour of our precious planet.

Call and Check ServicesA service that has been developed by Jersey Post, that provides a regular visit to members of our community who would benefit from a bit of extra help and support.

ALL AREASThe Bosdet Foundation and Les Ormes The Foundation a charitable trust, is the beating heart of Les Ormes. The Foundation is the primary reason Les Ormes grown and evolves to give back to the community of Jersey. They are providing the venue together with their various activities.

Club SoulgenicA fresh new approach to wellness and fitness with Jersey’s first fully integrated fitness and wellness centre.

WellBeing World Offers business and marketing support to the providers of wellbeing services and facilitates the provision of physical and emotional support to people. Their partners are providing various talks.

Worry Boxes with Mind Jersey A useful tool for children to address worry and anxiety can be to introduce a worry box into their daily routine. Come and get creative help children make a worry box, which they can take home with them.
