High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) was founded in the year 1983 to provide a forum for interaction among the scientists and researchers working in the field of high energy materials and related technologies in research laboratories of DRDO, DAE, ISRO, Academic institutions and industries of the country. HEMSI having made a modest beginning at Pune, now boasts of having five more Chapters at Thiruvanathapuram, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh-Delhi and Jagdalpur in addition to its parent chapter at Pune.
HEMSI made its presence felt throughout the country and the world over by arranging 8 National and 7 International seminars and conferences. Deliberations in the conferences always lead to the generation of road map for future work in the field of pyrotechnics, propellants, high explosives and related fields. It is endeavor of the society to bridge the technology gap between the developed countries and India through participation of the international scientists and experts in the said conferences.
Dr Satish Kumar , DS & Director , DRDO HQ and Chairman HEMSI Chandigarh-Delhi chapter inaugurating Workshop on ‘Disposals of Ammunition and Energetic material ’ : 06-07 June 2013 at TBRL Chandigarh
HEMSI
TBRL was established in 1961 as one of armament research laboratories, under the Department of Defence Research & Development with an aim to provide facilities for applied research and technology development in the fields of high explosive processing, detonics and shock performance evaluation of warheads & other armament systems.
The laboratory has its headquarter at sector 30, Chandigarh and technical area known as TBRL Range, spread over 5000 acres at village Ramgarh, District Panchkula, Haryana. TBRL Ranges are divided into a number of technical zones / trial areas which have been so designed and spaced as to allow conduct of experimental trials independent of each other.
Products of Explosive Welding/Forming
The endeavor of this workshop is to get an insight into the explosive working of metals which consists of contact processes such as explosive welding, cutting, powder consolidation, engraving and stand-off processes like explosive metal forming, sheet and tube forming, bulging etc.
The workshops aims to share the basic ideas, theories, methodologies and experimental findings regarding explosive working of metals. Other related areas such as explosives types, diagnostic techniques, post welding characterization methods will also be deliberated in detail. This workshop will provide a platform for scientists and researchers working in these areas to share, learn and disseminate their experience and knowledge through presentations & demonstration.
