English Language Courses

A wide range of English courses are available at the school. Every student is assessed at the beginning of their course to establish language level and to find the most suitable class for each individual. Progress is closely monitored during the course through student tutorials and teacher reports and students are changed to a higher or lower class when necessary. As class size is kept to a minimum (between 5 and 12 per class), students can see a high rate of progress throughout their course and will benefit from a high level of personal attention from their teacher.

English Language Summer Programme

Foyle Language School’s summer programme for learners of English is a firm favourite with past students. We can guarantee that you will not attend a better summer course anywhere.

The programme offers the student a unique and fun-filled opportunity to experience the best of Irish life and culture whilst learning English. The course is highly successful and enjoyable and every participant will achieve rapid results. English classes are held in the morning and a packed programme of activities, excursions, games and sports are planned for afternoons and evenings. We employ native English speakers to act as mentors to the group and accompany the students on excursions and activities. Our team of English language teachers are very highly qualified and under the expert guidance of the Director or Studies, provide excellent and worthwhile tuition. Each Wednesday afternoon all students participate in group workshops covering topics such as drama, poetry, photography and journalism which are presented to a local audience on the final week of the course.

We also work in conjunction with our local college of Further and Higher Education (NWIFHE) to provide students with top quality facilities including several computer suites, full library access, coffee bar, theatre and even the opportunity to gain an online English qualification with Learn Direct.

Students are housed either with one of our excellent host families or at the local university student village.
