Students who missed more than 10 days dropped by 985. The number of students with perfect attendance increased from 88 to 103. Absences can directly affect a student’s performance. Because my attendance improved, I earned a better grade in math class and moved to a higher level course! Attendance really does matter. z Carmichael Middle School implemented an attendance buddy system and one student said: It’s easier for me to go to school when I know my friends are waiting for me and they get upset when I don’t come. El número de los estudiantes con asistencia perfecta aumentó de 88 a 103.

Las ausencias pueden afectar el desempeño de un estudiante directamente. Las calificaciones

mejoran a medida que disminuyen las ausencias.

z La escuela secundaria Ochoa reporta: Fue muy emocionante al comparar nuestros datos

del año pasado con los de éste año. De manera no oficial, tuvimos 237 estudiantes con asistencia perfecta en diciembre de 2013 y 408 en el 2014. Del mismo modo, hemos logrado que 225 estudiantes tuvieran asistencia perfecta en enero de 2014 y 361 en enero de 2015. Definitivamente, nuestros estudiantes están respondiendo a la iniciativa Attendance Matters!

z Un estudiante de la escuela secundaria Enterprise compartió:

Me emocioné muchísimo cuando nuestro subdirector me entregó un helado de Dairy Queen por mejorar mi asistencia. Debido a que mi asistencia mejoró, obtuve una mejor calificación en mi clase de matemáticas y fui trasladado a un curso de nivel superior! La asistencia realmente importa.

z La escuela secundaria Carmichael implementó un sistema en donde incluye a un compañero de asistencia y un estudiante dijo:

Es más fácil para mí ir a la escuela cuando sé que mis amigos me están esperando y se molestan cuando no vengo. Ahora mis calificaciones han mejorado y tengo dos A’s.

z La escuela secundaria Kiona-Benton reportó que los incentivos y mensajes positivos han ayudado a motivar a los estudiantes a asistir a la escuela.

z La escuela secundaria Desert Hills reportó que más del 40% de los estudiantes tuvo asistencia perfecta (incluyendo ninguna tardanza) en septiembre y octubre de este año escolar

* Los datos de asistencia fueron comparados en los distritos escolares de Kennewick, Pasco, y Richland en los años escolares de 2012-2013 y 2013-2014

z Se implementará mayor alcance a los estudiantes/familias con demasiadas ausencias.
