JUSTIFICATION - The development of area ,over burden removal and production was onmuch higher side. This was due to better demand of ore leading to moredevelopment as well as production. The production of bauxite was less dueto poor recvery of bauxite and better recovery of laterite than thatenvisaged.

2.4 Updated reserves with grade(Indicate end use grade with analysis) as well as
marginal grades, based on above :-Method of estimation of mineral reserves :-
The total mineral resource has been calculated by surface area method. Inthis method the surface mineralised area has been multiplied by the average thickness of theore body to find out the volume. This is turn has been multiplied by the bulk density to find outthe tonnage. The mineral reserve there after has been calculated by depleting remainingresource from total mineral resource.Categorisation of total mineral resources and mineral reserve :-
The total mineral resource has been put under 331 category while the mineralreserve has been put under 121 category as per the UNF classification. The mineralisationhas been proved by extensive pitting in the ML area.1) Economic Axis :-

10.3.0 REVIEW OF IMPLEMENTATION OF MINING PLAN/SCHEME OF MINING
INCLUDING FIVE YEARS PROGRESSIVE MINE CLOSURE PLAN UPTO THE
FINAL CLOSURE OF MINE :-
Review of the PMCP has been given in the Scheme of Mining in
chapter 1 & 2. A brief is stated as under.
(A) Method of mining :- Manual method of mining was proposed and adopted.
(B) Water quality management :- There is no river, nalla or any surface water source
in the lease area. Due to small scale of opencast mining, erosion, sedimentation,
siltation didn’t occurred and water treatment was not needed. There is no toxic
contamination in the ore and overburden. Hence no contamination of any nature was
reported. The working was carried out above ground water table.
(C) Air quality management :- The only source of air pollution was generation of dust
and emmision of gases due to plying of vehicles. This was nullified by sprinkling of
water on approach road and proper maintenance of vehicles.
(D) Waste management :- The OB/ waste was proposed to be stacked for 1 year and
then simultaneous backfilling was proposed. In view of small area and mineral not
mined out upto full depth of mineralisation, backfilled could not be started. The waste
has been stacked in pit bottom on unsystematic note.
(E) Top Soil management :- No top soil was generated in the lease area and hence
was not applicable. The soil is lateritic in nature.
(F) Safety and security :- The mine was suitably guarded and any approach to mine was
restricted and prohibited.
(G) Disaster management and risk assessment :-
No accident, untoward incident and disaster happened in the mine.
(H) Plantation :- No tree was planted during PMCP period in view of area being very
small..

(a) Proposal and manner of reclamation and rehabilitation of mined out land :-
Mining effect environment in various ways including depletion of land cover,
vegetation, removal of soil, change of land scape & deposition of the solid waste product thus
causing imbalance in the land scape and increasing air, water and soil pollution. Land use in
mining areas consists of mainly forestry, pasture and agriculture. The mined out land which will
be fully exhausted by virtue of excavation upto full depth of mineralisation will be
simultaneously/progressively reclaimed by backfilling of OB & waste generated during the
course of mining. The level of backfilling will be near parallel to the original topography. The
reclaimed area will be rehabilitated by way of afforestation.
The total waste that will be generated during mining will be 7000 cum
which after ultimate 12% swelling and compaction will be 7840 cum. The depth of mining will
be 8m with RL of pit floor varying from 378m towards east to 374m towards west.
The depth of filling will be 2.0m on average. The RL of reclaimed area will vary from 376m
to 380m with 300 sloping side towards ultimate pit limit. Hence the surface level will go
down by 4m on average. How ever the level of backfilling will be in such a way that a profile
parallel to the original topography will be maintained at end with proper slopes at corners. The
reclaimed area will be rehabilitated by way of afforestation.

Scheme of Mining of KATHARA KOTHAR LATERITE & BAUXITE MINE ofShri Rajendra Kumar Agrawal, Satna (M.P.)
10.4.2 Water quality management :-
(a) Surface and ground water body :-
There is no river, nalla, any surface or ground water source in
the lease area or in the nearby buffer zone. Hand pumps and dug wells exist in the buffer zone.
Garland drain will be made towards sloping western side to prevent erosion, sedimentation,
siltation.Water treatment is not expected. Since there is no river or any perennial water course
in the M.L. area, diversion will not be required. There is no toxic element in and around the
M.L. area or in OB or ore. Hence contimination of any nature is not expected for surface or
any ground water source. Simultaneous backfilling of OB and waste has been proposed and
no dump will remain at the end of PMCP period. Hence contamination due to wash off from
dumps or leachete is not expected.
Mining operations are not envisaged to adversely affect the water table
of the area as the working is proposed above ground water table. The rain water accumulation
and water harvesting in the pit will recharge the ground water table .
(b) Hydrological study :-
The ground water table in the lease area varies from 365m
RL to 367m RL. Mining will be done 7m above ground water table. Hence ground water table
will not be affected. The water seeps into the ground through different water channels. The
behaviour of ground water table has been noticed to be uniform.Main source of water supply
in the different villages of study area is well, small pond and tube wells.
(c) Acid mine drainage :-
There is no sulphide in the country rock, hence problems of
acid mine drainage is irrelevant in this mine.

10.4.3 Air quality management :- The air quality in the applied area as well as in the nearby
buffer zone is well below the permissible limits.Mitigative measures suggested for air pollution
control are based on the ambient air quality data. Following measures will be taken for air
quality management for abetting in anticipated danger to air quality at mine life end.
S.No Dust Source Control measure1 Haul Road Regular water spraying.2 Truck Movement No overloading of trucks.
Trucks to be covered while transporting ore.Enforcing speed limit.Regular monitoring of the exhaustProper maintenance of trucks
3 Waste dumps Simultaneous backfilling of worked out portionswill be done at end.
4 Mine workings Regular water spraying in working areas.Green belt surrounding MLPersonal protective equipments like dust mask, goggles, boots and helmets etc.will be providedto the employees.
Controlling of SO2 & NOx Levels
The source of SO2 & NOX would be due to vehicular emissions. This can
be controlled by proper maintenance and servicing of vehicles. There is no anticipated
danger to air quality at the mine life end in view of very small mine with no hazardous or
toxic contamination.Ambient air quality monitoring will be carried out as per CPCB norms
once in a year except monsoon season.

The OB/mine waste will be inform of soil and unaltered sandstone etc.During the ensuing PMCP period 513 cum of soil and 2701 cum of OB/waste will begenerated. This will correspond to 3600 cum after 40% of swelling and 20% ofcompaction. This will be simultaneously backfilled in the excavated and exhausted area. No
dump will remain at end.
In order for abetting any anticipated danger at mine life end Garland bund
and drain will be prepared towards the sloping western boundary area. No toxic and
hazardous element is present in the OB as well as in the ore body.
10.4.5 TOP SOIL MANAGEMENT :-
The top soil is sandy in nature. The quantity to be generated during PMCP
period will be 513 cum. All the generated soil will be used for topping of the backfilled area
to do afforestation No dump will remain at end of mine life. Hence no action will be taken for
utilisation and proper stacking of soil to be left at end.
10.4.6 TAILING DAM MANAGEMENT :-
No tailing dam will be created in the applied area in future. No processing of
mineral is required. No toxic contamination is there in the water body.
