PROGRESSIVISM Progressivism is the educational philosophy

which is grounded in the “pure” philosophy of pragmatism.

Progressivism focuses on real-world problem solving and individual development.

A theory of education that is concerned with “Learning by Doing” and purports that children learned best when pursuing their own interests and satisfying their own needs. (Foundation of American Education)

Schools must engage in continuous investigation & research into the ways children learn and into the best practices in the design of the curriculum.

Students must be challenged by sophisticated ideas and rigorous work, there cannot be any holding back from the intellectual, social & ethical demands of school.
