Angela Davis is a radical political activist famous for being a leader of the Communist Party,

USA, as well as being a prominent figure of the Civil Rights and Womanist Movements. Davis

came to media attention in the 1970’s when she was accused of the murder of a California judge

and named a “dangerous terrorist” by then President Richard Nixon. After her acquittal, unani-

mously declared innocent by an all white juror, Davis became an activist for many causes facing

minority groups, as well as a critic of the United States prison systems and the Vietnam War.

Davis continues to teach, rally, campaign, and lecture on behalf of peace and minority groups.
