Hai friends . . .

My name is Alfiana Ratna Sinta Alkhoir. But you can call me Sinta. I am student in SMP 1

Lasem. Well I want to tell you about extracurricular arts in my school. There are many

extracurricular in my school there are basketball, volleyball, football, scout, scientific work,

CCO, etc. There are also extracurricular arts like Karawitan, traditional dance, band, etc.

Karawitan is one of my local culture. Karawitan is the group of many people that playing

gamelan. Gamelan is  group of music equipments from Central Java (my province). Gamelan

usually used for puppet shows in my town. There are bonang, slenthem, kenong, saron, peking,

kempul, gong,and kendang. The player of gamelan is called  panjak. There are 15 persons that

playing gamelan. Gamelan music used to accompany traditional songs java, like Manyar Sewuand Rembang Bangkit. Beside that, gamelan music used to accompany traditional dance, like

Gambyong dance and Janaka-Cakil dance.

In my school, if there is event, gamelan always appear. Because gamelan is the local traditionalmusic in Indonesia.

Gamelan is also famous in America. Even, many Americans playing gamelan. I also participatein this extracurricular. The name of my music equipments is  Bonang. In the first I play gamelan,

I thinks it is very difficult, but after I try and try it is very fun. Play gamelan also can train brain

intelligence and sensitivity feelings. Gamelan music can also relieve stress.

Emmhhh, this is My mother, she also my Javanese teacher (my mother language). She is singing

a traditional song from Central Java, the title of this song is “Yen Ing Tawang Ana Lintang”. 

This is the reff of this song :

Yen ing tawang ono lintang cah ayu

 Aku ngenteni teka mu

 Marang mego ing angkoso

Sung takok-ke pawartamu

When there are stars in the sky my

I'm waiting for your presence

To mega in the sky my darling

I asked about it going

Beside karawitan, there is traditional dance in my school. Traditional dance is like Gambyong

dance. Gambyong dance is social dance in society. The dancer known as a beautiful and have a

dance that is quite beautiful. There is five dancer in this dance. Characteristic of this Dance

performances, before starting the piece is always opened with Pangkur song. Looks beautiful and

elegant dance where the dancer is able to align with the rhythm of kendang motion. Gambyong dance is used as the opening dance at an event.

Gambyong Dance choreography largely centered on the use of footwork, body, arms and head.

Motion of the head and hands are smooth and in control is a specification in gambyong dance.Eye gaze followed the direction of motion that moves the hand with the fingers look, making the

dominant factor in the hand motions gambyong dance expression. Stance footwork during

embryo and walking have a harmonious correlation.

Clothing and makeup to dance gambyong have a role that supports the expression this dance and

important factors for dancers presentation. Form corretive makeup that produces beautiful face

and looks natural, attractive to look
