Project Details:

Your English project includes cultural studies and requires you to do research at home.

You must bring your research in to class and an exercise book or display folder, which you’ll use to complete and present your project.

You will be working on the following questions and tasks during class time and presenting the final product to your class mates for peer grading.

However, when writing your story, don’t forget to include an introduction, complication and resolution. It is important to keep your story mysterious, creative and captivating!

1. List the types of celebrations that are held around the world, which are different to what we usually celebrate? e.g. Las Posadas in Mexico.

2. What traditions or ceremonies are usually held during these celebrations?

3. What public holidays do we have in Australia? And why do we celebrate them?

4. Why do schools around the world have holidays at different times?

Following Scenarios in your Narrative:

1. You have won a holiday and must leave Sunday evening. Explain in detail: how you won; where you are going; who you are taking with you.

2. During your stay, you receive an invitation to a special party. Describe what type of party it is; what time the party starts; who invited you?

3. Something happens to you during the party. Describe what happens.4. You then become lost. Describe how you get lost (use the five senses to

explain your experience).5. You are then rescued. Make sure you include in detail: who rescues you

and how you were rescued.6. Finish your story with a mysterious ending.
