the pages

NTU’s Translated Userguide

Open source concept allows students

to freely access, edit and distribute.

Open source would also allow for

greater sharing while facilitating

moderation

Garner input from seniors who have

gone through the system

Aid new students who have difficulty

using the system

Where to go from here

Business Model

◦ Produce a better-packaged, more visually

presented version in a printed guidebook

◦ Similar to many current open source

software models

Source code (the information on iNTUpret wiki)

is offered for free

But the packaged .exe binaries (the printed

guidebooks) are sold at a small price

Page 25: Project I Nt Upret V2

Where to go from here

For example:

◦ Users can access iNTUpret wiki at any

time and navigate its contents

◦ But a printed guidebook can be

purchased by those who wants a physical

copy that’s easier to read

Page 26: Project I Nt Upret V2

Where to go from here

Dual-licensing

◦ Source Code (iNTUpret)

Licensed under a Creative Commons BY-NC-

SA license

◦ Executable (Guidebook)

Copyrighted (design and illustrations)

Content still uses iNTUpret’s information, so it’ll

keep the CC BY-NC-SA license

Page 27: Project I Nt Upret V2

What’s in the guidebook

It could be anything important to the

student, from instructional guides to

explanatory ones!

Can include a pullout calendar of all

the important events of the year

Page 28: Project I Nt Upret V2

What’s in the guidebook

Any profit earned will be channeled

back to employ good writers for

certain pages in the wiki

Thus ensuring a continual flow of data

entry and output

Page 29: Project I Nt Upret V2

Conclusion

iNTUpret meets:

◦ Open source software requirement

◦ Open source business model

But more importantly, iNTUpret is a

refinement of proprietary systems and

interfaces

And supports free use and

dissemination of important information
