BSNL have organised a function for commencement of cable-laying of Chennai - Andaman & Nicobar Islands Submarine Optical Fibre Cable System at Chennai. Shri. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon'ble Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & IT, and Law & Justice, Government of India will inaugurate it in the august presence of Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, & Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency, at 1 pm on January 9 in Chennai. The inaugural function will be held at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, followed by the flag-off ceremony in the cable-laying ship 'KT Responder', berthed inside Chennai Port jetty. Lakshadweep A&N Islands Industrial Development Scheme Industrial Units willing to avail benefits urged to register themselves under the scheme 44 Exam Centres to be set up Port Blair, Jan. 8 In order to boost the industrialization in Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands, Department for Industrial Development and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India has notified 'Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands Industrial Development Scheme (LANIDS)-2018'. The Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands Industrial Development Scheme (LANIDS)-2018, comprises of following incentives:- * Central Capital Investment Incentive for access to credit (CCIAC) For access to credit @ 30% of the investment in Plant and machinery with an upper limit of Rs. 5.00 crore. * Central Interest Incentive (CII) Interest Incentive @ 3% on working capital credit advanced by the Scheduled Banks or Central/State financial Institutions for first five years from the date of commencement of commercial production/ operation. * Central Comprehensive Insurance Incentive (CCII) Reimbursement of 100% insurance premium on insurance of building and Plant & Machinery for maximum period of 5 years. * Goods and Service Tax (GST) Reimbursement 58% of the Central tax paid and 29% of integrated tax paid for the period of 5 years. * Income Tax (IT) Reimbursement Central Share of income tax for first 5 years. * Transport Incentive (TI) 20% of the cost of transportation for finished goods for Shipping from the port nearest to the location of the industrial Inauguration of Cable-Laying of Chennai - Andaman & Nicobar Islands Submarine Optical Fibre System Union Minister for Communications to inaugurate the project in the presence of Lt. Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency at Chennai today This project of national importance will build the first ever dedicated submarine OF cable link from Chennai to A&N Islands. It will connect Port Blair to Chennai and will have further landings in seven Islands: Swaraj Dweep, Long Island, Rangat, Little Andaman, Car mainland. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) are the project implementation agency (including operations for 5 years), nominated by DoT/USOF. The turnkey contract has been awarded to M/s NEC Technologies India Ltd. According to CGM, A&N Telecom Circle, the CANI-SMC project is being constructed at a total cost of around Rs. 1200 crores, funded by USOF, Govt. of India. The project will play a significant role in bridging the digital divide and for spreading the various e-governance programmes in the Emerald Isles. Nicobar, Kamorta and Great Nicobar. The project activity was formally launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on 30th December, 2018, during his visit to Port Blair. This system will play a pivotal role in driving the 'Digital India' vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister . The total length of submarine cable to be laid exceeds 2250 km and will have an initial bandwidth capacity of 400 Gbps for supporting voice and data connectivity. The CANI- SMC has an eventual capacity of 6.4 terabits per fibre pair. One fibre pair is earmarked for exclusive use by Defence (A&N Command). Once the project is completed, citizens of A&N Islands will experience an overall improvement in ICT services nearly on par with that of Port Blair, Jan. 8 As part of the 'Jan Jagaran' (public awareness programme) on CAA, the State Unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, A & N Islands has launched the campaign in the Islands on Jan 6, 2020 to make the general public aware about the CAA. Prominent speakers of State, District as well as Mandal level led by the State President, Shri. Port Blair, Jan. 8 The Department of Social Welfare has sanctioned new 418 cases of pensions, of which, 318 cases are Old Age Pension, 66 cases of Widow Pension and 34 cases of Destitute Allowance to the beneficiaries who have applied for the pension under various schemes during the financial year 2019-2020. The list of the beneficiaries have been placed in the Notice Board for information of the beneficiaries and also uploaded in the website of the Department of Social Welfare, a communication said. He said, Chabahar will go on and no one should worry about it. New Delhi, Jan. 8 Over eight crore farmer families have been benefitted under PM Kisan Scheme. The Scheme was launched in February, last year under which income support of six thousand rupees per year in three equal instalments of two thousand rupees is provided to each eligible farmer. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ministry said, more than 48 thousand 937 crore rupees has been released under the scheme till date. The Scheme initially covered only small and marginal farmer families Over eight cr farmer families benefited under PM Kisan Scheme with landholding up to two hectares. Later the government extended the scheme to all farmer families irrespective of landholding size. A new facility has been provided on PM-KISAN Web-portal - www.pmkisan.gov.in through Farmers’ Corner link to facilitate the farmers for self-registration and edit his or her name in PM- Kisan database as per Aadhar Card. The farmers are being facilitated for self registration and data correction through Common Service Centers. Jagaran programme by highlighting all aspects of Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019. The Jan Jagaran programme will continue with public meetings at various other districts of these Islands. In order to gather support for CAA, the party has also started a 'signature campaign' and 'missed call' service on a toll free number 88662 88662, a communication from the Convener, IT Cell, BJP said.
