Your style. Your signature. Location Los Angeles Southwest College in Los Angeles, California is a two-year college that awards Associate’s Degrees in more than 30 fields and occupational certificates in more than 45 disciplines. The campus is also the site of Middle College High School of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Students can take college courses and obtain their Associate of Arts Degree while meeting requirements for a high school diploma. More than half of LASC’s students are first-generation college students. Our students come from a wide service area, including Los Angeles as well as portions of Gardena, Hawthorne and Inglewood. Public transportation, and corresponding bus shelters, is a critical element for students. Project Tolar Manufacturing adapted 16-foot shelters from its Signature Custom line to form a transit station that is located in front of Los Angeles Southwest College. Working closely with the school’s project architect the Tolar team created a solution that serves the transportation needs of the school’s growing enrollment, while meeting site restrictions and reflecting the school’s powerfully branded identity. Illuminating the bus stops with environmentally-responsible solar powered lighting was another critical element of the project. Other environmentally-friendly features include a custom powder coat finish that emits minimal VOC’s into the local environment, seating that features HDPE slats around an architectural aluminum frame. Downtown Transit Mall

22-ft x 10-ft transit shelters located at Courthouse Park in Fresno, California, also known as the Downtown Transit Mall. Eleven bus shelters in all are dramatically lit with energy-efficient blue LED lights designed by Teter Architects and Engineers. The Tolar team fabricated the shelters, roof glazing system and all stainless steel accents including the unique lean rails around the dual post columns.

Charles M. Schultz Airport

Catching the bus from Charles M. Schultz Airport in Santa Rosa to tour wine country or many other offerings couldn’t be easier!

This 18’ X 7’ Signature Sunset transit shelter installed by Sonoma County to catch transit service from Sonoma County and Mendocino County was designed and fabricated by Tolar Manufacturing Company in the U.S.A.

The shelter features pristine 3/8” heat formed polycarbonate roof panels, low draw LED illumination, connection points for future technology, SCT branding and contour benches.

SmartPlace™ Transit Shelter

Tolar Manufacturing was fortunate to be awarded a contract for the BRT stations and various elements of San Jose, California’s Alum Rock project.

Working with the project designers, engineering firms and the transit agency Tolar fabricated 48’ Signature BRT SmartPlace™ shelters with stainless cladding, equipment cabinets with transit information displays, rail barriers, glass roof, art elements, and light poles.
