Without protection the PU foam used as thermal protection, would quickly deterioate when exposed to the harsh climate of the UAE. The conventional alternative was to use steel cladding to protect the PU foam. This option was considered to be expensive, time consuming to apply and yet fully not solve the main problem of water ingress. Corrotech Construction Chemicals offered Corrocoat PUA HF, a rapid quick curing seamless Polyurea system. The system was put forward as a valid solution. Corrocoat PUA HF bonds exceptionally well to the PU foam, making the system integral and water impervious. In total 20 silos required insulation and protection with 14 being wheat silos and 6 for rice. On rice storage polyurea was applied both to the external walls and roofs. For wheat silos polyurea was applied on roofs only. CCC authorised applicator company Anticor Ltd. applied PU foam as heat insulation directly to concrete prior to application of the Corrocoat PUA HF. System application took place in two steps: 1) Application of polyurethane foam over the concrete structure 2) Application of Corrocoat PUA HF over the PU foam at the thickness of 1 mm
