PROJECT
• To develop and implement a plan to provide exposure of the West Point Leadership Theories to the employees of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
PROCESS
• The development and implementation of this plan will be based on a process defined as the “Leaders Problem Solving Model”.
AREAS OF INTEREST
• What are the factors that have compelled an action from a leader?
Agency Growth
• The number of employees at the Sheriff’s Office has grown from twenty-six to two hundred eighty-nine since 1982.
• The number of Formal Leaders has increased from six to approximately sixty.
• Our employee population grows by approximately 25-35 employees each year.
Population Growth
• The population of Williamson County has grown from 70,000 to 250,000 in the last 20 years.
• University in East Texas - population is expected to double by the year 2010.
Financial Status
• The annual training budget for Law Enforcement Bureau is approximately $40,000.
• Law Enforcement Bureau has 164 employees. ($244.00 each)

8 hours of leadership styles, role identification, ethics and counseling.
16 hours of commission rules, special investigative topics, civil rights and cultural diversity.
Condition of Society
• Current condition of society calls for more than the traditional reaction to crime and criminals, it calls for innovative problem solvers.
Organizational Goals
• Recognized as one of the ten safest counties in the United States.
• Recognized as most professional S.O.
• Reduce crime and the fear of crime.
• Improve the quality of life.
• Improve the trust and collaboration between the citizens and the Sheriff’s Office.
