ROAD SAFETY AUDIT MANAGEMENT SURVEY

INTRODUCTION

Road Safety Audit is a formal examination of a future road or traffic project, or an existing road, in which

an independent, qualified team looks at the project’s crash potenial and safety performance. The road

safety audit may investigate general safety conditions, or it may focus on specific concerns or users.

OBJECTIVE: 

  To examine the safety level in the campus

  To suggest improvements for safety purpose

  To minimize accident risks on adjacent road network

  To promote safety of all road users on new and existing roads of the campus

METHODOLOGY:

  Dividing campus into number of stretches – In this road safety audit management survey we are

focusing on two routes:-  Main Road (Main gate to Hostel thirteen)

-  Hostel 10 to devi temple

  Visual surveying roads of the campus

  Identifying Problems and suggesting improvements

  Report Presentation (Data and photographs)

1)  MAIN ROAD (Main gate to Hostel 13): 

DATA ANALYSIS AND FINDINGS:

a)  Tilted Parking Sign Board

Suggestion:

Parking sign board should be revamped, so that it is visible to the road users.

b)  Speed Restriction Board and No Horn Sign

c)  Broken Pavement near main gate:

Suggestion: Pavement should be repaired, so that it can be used by pedestrians

d)  NO PARKING Sign Board at the main gate  –  Parking is allowed at the main gate, therefore

wrong sign board 

Suggestion: Parking Sign Board should be changed from NO PARKING to PARKING

e)  Nhi chamka

Suggestion:

Double lines should be made single.

f)  Broken pavement: Pavement on the left side of Hostel 10 road is broken which can lead to

accidents 

Suggestion: Pavement should be repaired to avoid any mishap

g)  Convo (nhi chamka)

h)  Dangerous Shoulder Drop off between NCC and footer field area

i)  In front of H-11 tree between the shoulder:

Suggestion:

 j)  Trees between the sidewalk on Hostel 8 to Hostel 6 road

k)  In front of Hostel 8 second gate, sidewalk obstruction due to construction work.

l)  Double lines not visible near football ground, speed limit sign board should also be there on this

intersection

Suggestion: Double lines should be made properly and a sign board indicating the speed restrictions

must be placed

m)  Gutters and trees obstructing the sidewalk and shoulder near Hostel 5 road

2.) DEVI TEMPLE ROAD:

a)  Single line indicates that overtaking is allowed but the width of the road is too less to allow

overtaking of vehicle.

Suggestion:

Either Double lines should be made or else road width should be increased
