Project for class 8th

TITLE: Depict your final exam marks of class 7th

( obtained in different subjects ) on a bar

graph and a pie chart .

OBJECTIVE : The students will be able to understand more on statistics which

deals with analysing the data and drawing inferences from the nume rical

information , They will learn pictorial representation of numerical data in the

Page 5: Project Work - ypschd.com · The candidate is to creatively execute any one project on a selected topic of Chemistry. 1. Study of Alloys: composition and uses. (Stainless steel, duralumin,

form of bars (or columns) of uniform width and various heights . And how to

represent given data in pie chart .

MATERIAL: Your annual marksheet for previous class, textbook, references

from internet and related books.

PROCEDURE: In order to draw the bar graph, take subject on x-axis and Y-axis

would represent marks obtained.

For pie chart, divide marks in each subject with total marks obtained and multiply

it by 360 to find out segment of the subject.

For example if you got 80 marks out of 100 in each of five subject then each

slice would be of

(80 * 360) / 400 = 72 degree

TITLE OF THE PROJECT- AREA OF A CIRCLE BY USING THE FORMULA

A=πr2

Objective-

TO FIND THE AREA OF A CIRCLE GEOMETRICALLY BY USING THE FORMULA

A=πr2

Material Required-

A white sheet of paper, glue stick, coloured pencils or sketch pens, a pair of scissors,

geometry box

Procedure-

Draw a circle on a white sheet of paper and divide it into 16 equal parts. Colour the alternate

sectors in two different colours. Cut all the sectors using scissors. Arrange the sectors in a

form that it looks like a parallelogram and paste them together. The length of the

parallelogram is equal to the circumference of the semicircle and its height is equal to the

radius of the circle.

Recordings-

Base=half of the circumference=1/2 × 2πr= πr

Height=r

Page 6: Project Work - ypschd.com · The candidate is to creatively execute any one project on a selected topic of Chemistry. 1. Study of Alloys: composition and uses. (Stainless steel, duralumin,

So, Area of parallelogram= Base x Height

= πr x r

= πr2= Area of circle

Analysis-

We conclude that the area of a circle is equal to the area of a parallelogram and is given by

the formula A= πr2.

PROJECT FOR CLASS-X FROM MARCH 2020 TO MAY 2020

TITLE: Class-X ‘’Formula Bank in Mathematics’’

OBJECTIVES: The students can have success in understanding, learning and

application of formulae with the right effort, attitude and behaviour, regardless of

a natural affinity towards maths by creating a ‘’FORMULA BANK’’. The more

familiar they are, the more chances are the students will recognize and understand the

formulae better as they are using them.

MATERIAL: ICSE Textbook, References from internet and related books.

PROCEDURE:The best way to "memorize" formulas is to understand them using the

related derivations and terms used in the formula. If you know what underlies a formula, you

should be able to easily derive it yourself. Use of these formulae in two or three questions

will make it easy to learn.

RECORDINGS: The student will record his proceedings and maintain a data of

formulae and the related questions where the application was done successfully

also.

ANALYSIS: The student will analyse it on his own by checking the authenticity

of all the formulae and how the project is helpful. The final analysis will be done

by the teacher based on a verbal and written viva.

Class -12th

Topic: - Determinants and Matrices

Objective: - What are the applications and uses of determinants and Matrices in our daily life

and where are they used.

Procedure: -

1) List all the properties of determinants to be used for solving the determinant

Page 7: Project Work - ypschd.com · The candidate is to creatively execute any one project on a selected topic of Chemistry. 1. Study of Alloys: composition and uses. (Stainless steel, duralumin,

2) Applications of determinants such as finding the area of a triangle, verifying whether

the given 3 points are collinear etc.

3) Uses of matrices and types of matrices
