Academic Promotion Outcomes – 2009/10

• Women appear to be significantly less likely to put themselves forward for promotion than their male colleagues.

• However, when they do put themselves forward they appear to be more likely to succeed.

• Both of these observations might suggest that women are less likely to make ‘speculative’ applications; preferring to wait until more certain of success.
