Inspired by the features of the early Spanish (or Mission) architecture, Mission Revival

architecture came into being approximately 100 years after the advent of Missions. It was

most prominent from 1890 to 1915. Features of buildings include low-pitched roofs covered

in clay tiles, large arched doorways and decorative arched openings, bell gables (with or

without the bell itself), long exterior arcades, courtyards, and curved gables on the main

facade.
