CAUTION: Airbus strongly recommends that TLTV operators carefully align the clamping device of the tractor with the nose landing gear axis. The gap between the cradle and the torque-link is very small and a mis-alignment might cause damage to the torque-link pin. A simple alignment device on the tractor could help the driver (marking, piece of metal...). Such a device is generally offered by TLTV manufacturers or could easily be manufactured by TLTV operators.

Notes: (1) Powerpush PPU (former TANA 42/53) drives the main gear wheels (twin wheels only). This

vehicle is used for pushback operations only. Extract from Aircraft Flight Manual of A320 family:

(2) TPX 500 (existing in 250hp and 300hp version) have both been qualified for use on A330-200/-300 and A340-200/-300.

Up to end of November 1999, towbarless towing of A330/A340 was only authorised for aircraft equipped with the standard option 09F3001 or 09G3001 (which includes mod 43435 for basic provisions and mod 43442 for the Oversteering Warning System).

According to the new JAR 25X745(d), and based on the results of the A330/A340 Nose Wheel Steering safety analysis, this option on the aircraft is not mandatory providing the TLTV are fitted with a fail-safe Oversteer indication / Protection features (see table 5). The Flight Manual has been revised accordingly.
