Introduction

Tata Teleservices (TTSL) spearheads the Tata groups presence in the telecom

sector. The company offers the full range of telecom services, spanning mobile

services, wireless desktop phones, public booth telephony, MPLS VPN, Internet and

wireline services.

TTSL, along with its subsidiary Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), serves over 70 million

customers in more than 7,500 towns across the country. Its network has been rated as

the best in India by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India through independent

surveys. TTSL has state of art Wireless and Wired network deployed across India. With

this TTSL is considering this as the opportunity to provide and commissioning

InstaOffice (Customer Name) locations across India.

About TTSL and its National Presence

Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL) represents Tata Groups telecom foray in

India and operates/offers telecom services under the brand name Tata Indicom.

Tata Teleservices started its services in 1996 in AP. It took over Hughes

Telecom, in Maharashtra in 2002 and renamed it as Tata Teleservices

(Maharashtra) Limited.

In Nov 2008, TTSL entered into an agreement with Japanese telecom

major NTT DOCOMO, in which NTT DOCOMO acquired a 26% stake in TTSL for USD

2.7 billion.

Tata Indicom offers Integrated fixed line, Wireless, Mobile products &

Enterprise network solutions & applications on world class technology platforms.

Meshed wireless & fixed access network with strong 100000+ Kms

National Backbone

Tata Teleservices has more than 10,000 employees working across India.

Today, TTSL, along with Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd, serves

over 50 million customers in over 350000 towns and villages across the country

Along with Enterprise Business Services (EBS) a SME vertical created has

been created to serve the both the top most enterprise customers & large base of

SME customers in India, serves the end-to-end telecom solutions across 22 circles

India.

Some of the major customers served by EBS are- Intel, IBM, Accenture,

Infosys, Wipro, HP India, Dell India, TCS, JP Morgan, Tech Mahindra, HCL,

Microsoft etcs.,

Some of the major data(MPLS,IBW & NLD) customers for EBS are SAP

Labs, Bangalore International Airport, MetLife India, Mindtree, Sasken, Iflex, Dell

India

Majority of the carriers in India depend upon Tata Tele for their data

network to offer their services to end customers. EBS serves AT&T, Verizon,

France Telecom,

Shyam Telecom, Aircel, Tata Communications, Spice (Idea), Tulip and

others for their backbone as well as the connectivity.

TTSL deploys predominantly fiber based network.

Concentrated more towards business parks & Enterprise customers.

3 layer approach DWDM, SDH Aggregate, SDH Access.

Initial roll out in Ring Topology and evolve towards mesh.

Automatic Switched Optical Network (ASON) Network of TTSL

TTSL is having 100000+ Kms of operational fiber optical backbone

network with DWDM and SDH capacities in different layers.

Being an access service provider all the fiber rings are connected to

ensure shorter ring lengths.

Going forward at all transmission aggregation points we are deploying

digital cross connects with ASON feature to create restoration paths so that circuit

uptime can be improved.

The restoration network is having a different topology than those of

with other operators therefore in any of the physical path even though we are co-

sharing with other operators the circuit restoration will take place because of the

other paths available from the same node.

diagram.
