In 2014, Creative Victoria provided $41.5 million to 128 organisations. Total income for all organisations was $397.0 million.

Creative Victoria’s funding represented 11% of total revenue.

Every $1 provided by Creative Victoria leveraged a further $8.56 income to the funded sector.

Organisations generated $51.2 million in private support, 13% of total revenue

Sources of income

• Earned income was the largest component of revenue at 48%.

• Creative Victoria funding was 11%• Other Government funding was 25% of total

revenue (including Commonwealth, local and other State funding).

• Private support was 13% of total revenue. $9.1 million in cash sponsorship $8.4 million in in-kind sponsorships $18.3 million from donations $15.5 million from philanthropic trusts

EMPLOYMENT, VOLUNTEERS AND MEMBERS

The sector employed 5,541 people.

• Total employment is equivalent to 2,236 full time employees.

• 78% are employed on a casual or part time basis.

11,648 volunteers provided 576,108 hours of service. 120 organisations had volunteer programs.

107 organisations reported 245,605 members/friends.

AUDIENCE

In 2014, 128 organisations reported attendances of 10.3 million

• 61% were from metropolitan Melbourne• 24% from regional Victoria• 9% from interstate• 6% from overseas

Funding from Creative Victoria was equivalent to $4.05 per attendance.

The funded sector presented 17,108 events:

• 5,343 productions• 1,134 exhibitions• 4,501 workshops• 2,474 lectures, seminars and conferences• 495 films

84 organisations have collection or education material on-line.

PROGRAMMING

111 funded organisations offered programming for emerging artists.

12,604 new works were created by 97 organisations.

There were 1,551 creative development projects by 71 organisations.

111 organisations reported 444,662 Victorian student attendances through 10,324 youth participation programs.

Most organisations offered targeted programming:

• 85 organisations offered programming for children (under 12 years) and 106 offered programming for youth (12 to 25 years old).

• 70 offered programming for people with a disability• 66 offered programming for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders

• 59 offered programming for cultural and linguistically diverse communities• 58 offered programming for senior citizens• 49 offered programming for women

62 organisations recorded 844 inbound tours.

61 organisations undertook 305 outbound tours within Victoria, interstate and overseas.

REGIONS

Creative Victoria provided $6.9 million to 49 organisations in regional Victoria, comprising:

• 18 Museums and Galleries• 18 Performing Arts Centres• 5 Festivals• 5 Performing Arts Organisations• 3 Industry and Cultural Development Organisations

Creative Victoria provided $34.6 million to 79 organisations in metropolitan Melbourne, comprising:

• 33 Performing Arts Organisations• 19 Industry and Cultural Development organisations• 16 Museums and Galleries• 10 Festivals• 1 Performing Arts Centre

Visual arts represent 27% of funded organisations while multi-arts represent 12% of funded organisations.
