2. THE UNIVERSITY OF AFRICA ADVANTAGE

Register at any time of the semester or year. This means that if issues such as finances, work pressures or family issues prevent you from registering, you do not need to wait until January or June to start. studiesstudies.

Continuous registration

throughout the year

Our philosophy is that a student can rather progress at a slower pace, as their finances allow, than not have the opportunity to study at all. For this reason, we allow students more time to complete their studies.

Tuition Fees are spread out over the course of the semester to make

Flexible, affordable and competitive

payment arrangements

You have access to a wide range of text books, research articles and

other supporting information sources from across the globe via our Electronic Resource Centre and Campus Library.

Physical and

Electronic Library

Four examination sessions per year facilitate progress without compromising quality. This compliments the fact that students can register and start their studies any time during the year. It also assists students, who have had to delay their studies due to personal reasons, to start again as soon as they are able.

Exams as you go

We have a culture of continuously optimising our operations in order to make education accessible to the wider community. In this way, the University of Africa has consistently maintained competitive tuition fees, while not forsaking quality of service delivery.

Lower study costs

With distance and part time studies, you can study whilst earning an income. Three further advantages of studying while working are: continue building a career; apply your learning at your workplace and better understand the context in which your studies will be applied.

Learn while you

earn

With our distance learning programmes, a student can take up a job anywhere or relocate for other reasons without interrupting his or her studies – even across borders. This ensures continuity of effort and saves on registration and tuition fees at new institutions.

Seamless locality –

not place bound

In partnership with the AdvTech Group, we have embarked on a major programme of harnessing the latest technology in education for the benefits of our students. This will improve customer service, simplify logistics and enhance connectivity.

5.3 Field Introductions

i. Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

University of Africa’s flagship degree in law has been designed by curriculum experts and

practitioners in Zambia. The LLB degree is designed for students wishing to pursue a career

in the legal profession. This includes becoming an advocate, attorney, judge, or corporate

legal advisor. The LLB degree prepares students for a legal career.

The Bachelor of Laws programme at the University of Africa is desired to meet the growing

need for legally trained persons to work in the public and private sectors of the Zambian

Economy. The Programme is also intended to equip students with legal knowledge that would

enable them find placement both at home, the region and the world at Large.

The LLB will provide you with an education in the law that is distinguished by its rigour, depth

and conceptual sophistication.

ii. Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ)

The Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice is one of those unique offerings and opportunities.

It is designed that the student will gain the skills and knowledge to prepare for a career in

law enforcement, the justice system, corrections, security, and social services. The programme

blends contemporary theory on the nature, extent, and cause of crime with the study of

national and international criminal justice practices. Students will apply criminal justice

theories to current issues as they gain perspective in three vitally important areas:

o Civic engagement, social responsibility, and global awareness

o Collection and analysis of data across organizations

o Teamwork and communication

This programme contributes to mutual understanding and co-operation between the present

criminal justice disciplines of police, prosecution authorities and corrections.

iii. Bachelor of Policing Practice

The course is designed to meet the career needs of serving police officers from all jurisdictions,

along with members of other agencies that have a policing or law enforcement focus. The

Bachelor of Policing Practice aims to prepare graduates to undertake independent critical

their own professional practice. Additionally, the programme aims to further enhance the

professional practice of police in order to further prepare them for roles in policing supervision

and management.

iv. Bachelor of Arts in Social Work Practice & Development Studies

Social Work and Development is the process or effort of increasing the positive outcomes within
