KARNATAKA INSTITUTE OF LEATHER TECHNOLOGY (An Institute of Government of Karnataka)
ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
Karnataka Institute of Leather Technology (KILT) is a Registered Society, registered
under THE KARNATAKA SOCIETIES REGISTRATION ACT, 1960, promoted by the
Government of Karnataka. KILT was established by Government of Karnataka in 1983 at
Bangalore. It has been instrumental in imparting quality training in the manufacturing
process of Leather & Leather Products, designing and R&D, playing a key role in
developing skilled manpower.
The Campus spreads across 10 acres of lush green land with beautiful landscaping. The
area enjoys pleasant atmosphere throughout the year. The students & staffs adore the
meticulously maintained campus and it is a place which gives inspiration to learn and
excel. The set of shared attitudes, values, goals & practices that characterizes an institution
can be felt while entering the institute.
As a good initiative in training in the realm of Leather Technology, by the Government
of Karnataka, KILT is furthering the cause of creating a Talented & Industry ready
resource pool.
MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE INSTITUTE
Karnataka Institute of Leather Technology (KILT) has primary mandate to impart quality
& pragmatic training. The Institute is leveraging its experience to do more.
Today, KILT is the face of the Leather Technology in Karnataka - going beyond the
realm of merely imparting skills, to interface with industry for accelerating the growth of
Leather sector. In KILT, the activities are oriented for achieving the following objectives:
1. To develop manpower and skills in Leather & Fashion Technology.
2. To provide quality education & specialized practical training in Leather & Fashion
Technology.
3. To provide in-plant training and Industry Orientated Courses.
4. To motivate incumbents to take up Self-Employment Ventures.
5. To provide Common Facilities & Infrastructure for use by Individuals & Industries
in the Leather sector.
6. To provide assistance in Computer Aided Design (CAD) & Data Development.
7. To co-ordinate with Leather based Industries in Product Development &
Modernization of Equipment.
8. To provide Placement assistance to students on periodical basis.
9. To provide Quality Control and Material Testing facilities to Manufacturers.
THE COURSE CONDUCTING RIGHT NOW
“Three Years Diploma Course in Combined Leather & Fashion Technology”, for 10th
passed. The syllabus of diploma is framed with the guidance of CLRI, Chennai and by the
experts of Leather Industry, Academicians, under the chairmanship appointed by HRD,
Government of India, for its purpose. This is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and
recognized by Government of Karnataka. This Diploma is awarded by Board of
Technical Education, Government of Karnataka.
1. ELIGIBILITY
a.) AGE:
Minimum age limit is 15 years as on 1st July 2016.
b.) QUALIFICATION:
Minimum: 10th pass or S.S.L.C. course or equivalent. Students appearing for the 10th
standard this year are also eligible to apply.
c.) INTAKE:
Only 45 (Forty Five) Students are eligible for admission during the current year.
d.) COURSE FEE:
� For Students Domiciled of Karnataka:
� Rs.17,000/-(Rupees Seventeen Thousand only) per year for Karnataka candidates.
� For Students outside of Karnataka:
� 34,000/-(Rupees Thirty Four Thousand only) per year for Non-Karnataka candidates.
The amount should be payable at the time of admission, begining of every year in the
form of Cash to the KILT, office or by Demand Draft, in favour of “Director, KILT,
Bangalore”. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
2. HOSTEL Charge, MESS Charge & Other Facilities:
Hostel accommodation is available for boys and girls on request, at the sole discretion of the Principal, KILT, Bangalore, at the following charges:
• The Institute has hostel facility in its own campus. Mess & Electricity charges
together will be around 3,000/- Rs. per month.
3. CAUTION MONEY & R-M DEPOSIT:
A sum of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five thousands only) in cash shall be paid by each candidate
which is refundable at the time of his/her leaving the institute (interest free) on completion
of the course, after recovery of the cost of damages, if any, to the Institute's property by the
student.

Note: For Non-Karnataka students, Rs.1, 000/- will be charged one time, as Eligibility Fee
during Admission.
4. INDUSTRIAL VISIT:
Students would be taken on study tour to Leather/ Leather Products/Footwear/Components
manufacturing units located in Karnataka and other States. All expenditure in this regard will
be borne by the institute.
5. RESERVATION FOR SC/ST CANDIDATES:
21% seats are reserved for SC/ST Candidates. The tuition fee paid by the students during
admission can be claimed in the form of Scholarships from the Social Welfare Department,
Govt. of Karnataka. The Institute will recommend the application for the reimbursement of
the tuition fees to the concerned department.
A photo copy of caste certificate duly attested by a Gazetted Officer is required to be
enclosed along with the application. While at the time of admission, all original
certificates/documents are required to be produced, failing which candidate will not be
considered for admission process.
NOTE: Raw material Fees and Caution money have to be paid by the candidate.
6. RESERVATION FOR WOMEN CANDIDATES:
10% of seats would be reserved for women candidates. In case of non-availability of suitable
female candidates, the seats would be filled up from the general / SC male candidates.
7. DISCIPLINE:
During the period of 3 yrs Diploma course, candidates should strictly follow the
Rules and Regulations of the Institute.
8. LEAVE AND ATTENDANCE:
Students who do not possess 85% of attendance will not be considered for appearing the
examination.
9. LOSS OR DAMAGE TO INSTITUTE'S PROPERTY:
Students, who make any loss, misuse or damage to property of the Institute, have to pay the
charges to be fixed by the Principal.
10. EXAMINATIONS:
Periodical tests and examinations will be conducted to assess the progress of the Students. If they do not show progress, their cases could be brought to notice of their Parents/ Guardians.
11. LIBRARY:
The Institute maintains a well-equipped library where books & periodicals on Leather Technology, Footwear Technology, Fashion Technology & other course related subject books are available for reference. No Student, will however be permitted to take any book or journal outside the institute, without prior written permission of the Principal, KILT, Bangalore.
12. LABORATATORIES & WORKSHOPS:
The Institute is having well furnished Laboratories like Leather Processing Lab, Footwear Manufacturing Workshop, Leather Garments and Goods Fabrication Workshop, and Computer & CAD Labs, Chemical Testing Lab, Physical Testing Lab, Chemistry Lab, Physics Lab, etc.
13. TERMINATION FROM THE COURSE:
Any student may be terminated at any time during the tenure of the course under the following circumstances:
a. If a student does not show interest and progress in his/her training, he/she will be given
a warning at the end of the first two months, even after, Student is not able to show
progress in the succeeding two months. His training will be terminated except in
exceptional cases.
b. Any Student who, he/she, absent from the classes for 3 weeks continuously, without
prior permission from the competent authority, is liable to be debarred from course and
he/she may be terminated. In case of medical grounds, prior permission needs to be
obtained from the institute.
c. Generally good conduct of Students, both within the Institute and outside, is one of the pre-requisites of the course. Any Student who is found guilty in this respect is liable to get terminated summarily. In this regard, the decision of the Principal, KILT, Bangalore, will be FINAL in case of any indiscipline during the course.
14. ANTI RAGGING COMMITTEE:
Students along with their Parents/ Guardian have to give an affidavit to the institution
that student should not be involved any kind of ragging activities. And if they are found
guilty strict action will be initiated as per the decisions of Anti-ragging committee
formulated as per AICTE Norms. They may be debarred from the institute and declared
as Not Fit For Technical Education (NFT).
15. DAMAGING THE INSTITUTION’S PROPERTY:
During the course of study, if any student is found guilty of damaging institute’s
property, suitable action will be taken against him/her.
15. LOCATION OF THE INSTITUTE:
The institute is having a new campus located in Ullal Upanagara, Near Jnana Bharati Campus of Bangalore University, Bangalore-560 110. Candidates who are new to Bangalore are advised:-
���� After getting down at Bangalore City Station, take the BUS No. (234) from
Majestic Bus Terminus (just opposite to Bangalore City Railway Station,
walkable distance) to Ullal Upanagara last stoppage. And
���� From K.R.Market Bus Terminus, Take Bus No. (234-A & 241-A) to Ullal
Upanagara. Then get down at Ullal Upanagara B.M.T.C. Bus Stop & Find Near
by the Institute.
16. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION:
Filled-in Application together with necessary enclosures should reach by Post/ Courier / in person to the following address on or before the due date:

Note: Applications received after the due date and incomplete applications
will not be entertained.
17. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR FILLING-UP THE APPLICATION FORM:
1. Applicant should affix a Self-attested passport size photograph in the application
form.
2. All the columns in the application form should be filled in properly and
correctly. Incomplete or improper filling up of the application form will result in
rejection of the application form.
3. Self attested Xerox copies of SSLC/10th
certificates are required to send along
with filled application form, if student has completed SSLC/10th
. Students
appearing for the current year 10th
examination are not required to do so.
4. Properly filled application is only accepted within due date as mentioned in the
notification.
5. Without requisite Demand Draft, admission process will not be entertained.
6. According to the number of application forms received, merit list will be made
and further, eligible students might be called for an interview.
7. The decision of the Institute will be abiding to the candidate and at any stage if it
is found that candidate has given false information in any respect then he/she
will be terminated & necessary judicial action may be initiated by the institute.
8. If any dispute arises, it will be resolved only under the jurisdiction of Karnataka.
9. At the time of admission of Outside Karnataka Student, it is mandatory to submit
Eligibility/Migration Certificate issued by the DTE, Karnataka.
10. Institute may, at any time, make modifications, changes and alterations to the
contents of this Prospectus, without any prior notice and students & their
guardians will abide by the rules.
11. During the stay in the campus, all the student’s have to wear prescribed
uniforms.
12. Use of Mobiles are strictly prohibited in the class rooms.
