The mainstay of our organismProteins are necessary for growth and repair of body tissues. Proteins perform a lot of metabolic and regulatory functions, such as nutrient assimilation, transport of oxygen and blood fats, the neutralization of toxic substances, etc.

Protein requirements:The FAO / WHO / UNU (Food and Agriculture Organization / World Health Organization / United Nations University) estimates the appro-priate consumption of protein in adults at 0.8 g/kg for women and at 0.85 g/kg for men.For instance, an adult woman who weighs 55 kg needs approxima-tely 44 g protein per day, while an adult man weighing 70 kg, needs approximately 59.5 g protein per day.

Biological quality of a protein

The Amino acid’s ProfileProteins are made up of amino acids. There are twenty protein amino acids, eight of which are essential for human life, since they must be present in nutrition; these are the so called essential amino acids. The rest of the amino acids are synthesized by the organism from the essential ones. If an essential amino acid is insufficient in the diet, this amino acid limits other amino acids being used to synthesize the protein.The biological quality of a protein is measured according to:

What is Protebio®?Protebio® is a vegetable pro-tein supplement. which can be conveniently added to our daily food. Protebio is made of sunflower seeds from certified organic agriculture.

The main animal protein sources are part of a food chain of intensive and not very natural practices. Moreover, when we take animal proteins, we also ingest all the waste products from cellular metabolism present in those animal tissues which act as toxins in our organism.2 | Pleasant taste. 3 | High biological quality. It has a complete amino acid profile and it is also easy to digest.4 | Low-fat content.In addition, within the lipid profile, we can point out the unsaturated fatty acids: Omega 3, 6 and 9.5 | It does not contain cholesterol.6 | Protebio® is a dietetic fibre-rich product.Fibre helps to contribute the colon transit and also contributes to the feeling of satiation.7 | No allergens. It does not contain any gluten, lactose or allergenic ingredients coming from egg, fish, soya, peanuts or nuts. How much Protebio® should I take on a daily basis?We should take into account that, whilst they may be found in very low proportions, most food contains proteins.

In a diet containing no animal proteins, but which is varied in terms of vegetables, seeds and cereals, we should take around 35 g of Protebio® per person and day. If the diet included dairy products, soya and/or seaweeds, the daily recommended intake of Protebio®

could be reduced to 30 g.

Protebio® is fibre-rich (21.8%). The contribution of fibre in our diet is very important to improve colon transit. Nevertheless, it is neces-sary to accompany the food with liquids so that we can make the most of the advantages of the fibre intake in order to hydrate it and avoid the risk of intestinal obstruction.

Protebio® is organicProtebio® comes from certified organic agriculture; that means that Protebio® contains no waste from pesticides and that it has been raised carefully respecting the environment. It should also be noted that, compared with other protein sources, the environmen-tal cost of Protebio® is lower.

The maintenance of an animal in intensive conditions is very expensive (water, medicines, food, waste, etc.).
