PROTECTION AND SAFEGUADE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH OF WOMEN, WITH

SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON RIGHT OF ABORTION.

INTRODUCTION

Systematic updated research shows that global society is becoming more liberal .each nation is

making new laws and policies which can make individuals more liberal within society. In

western nations this change is known as individualism. In this, the sovereign or government of

respective countries makes such laws which make individuals more free, so that he could

perform himself in better way.

By the theory of individualism or liberalism, the fundamental rights of being come

into light . Each government is trying to increase number of fundamental rights and trying hard

to decrease the number of directive principle of state policy from their constitution. But at the

same time, there are some sectors of the society , who have not yet get their fundamental

rights which have been already implemented for them . These sectors of society includes

labours, children , senior citizens and women . In this research paper we will discuss about

sexual and reproductive health of women with special emphasis on right to abortion.

RESEARCH PROBLEM AND JUSTIFICATION

Throughout the globe , every second women are suppressed, harass and ignored . She get ill

and inferior treatment , their rights are not kept in concern . There is no equality for them, their

rights are been violated. They have to suffer a lot and notion of their sexual health is never

been concerned . Due to lots of unstable social conditions, their sexual an reproductive health

is effective in large extent .

Coming on another dimension of this research paper is right to abortion . Fundamental rights

are also know as universal accepted rights. Means those rights which even government can’t

violate , no matter what are the circumstances . Right to life with dignity is one such right .To

have abortion or to have a child is one’s choice , it should be respected as it effects one’s life . If

woman wants to live happy life which she want ,than for this if she wants abortion, so should

have right to do that .

There are many problems in society if they are not solved , society can’t be stabiles. So

objective of research paper is to analysis problem and cope out with solution . Let us discuss

some of the problems which respect to the sexual and reproductive health . They are as follow-

1} Female genital mutilation

It includes procedures that intentionally alters or cause injury to the female genital organ for

non-medicinal reasons .Procedures can cause severe bleeding problems like infection ,

infertility as well as complication child birth and increased risk of newborn death .

More than 125 million girls and women alive today

have been cut in the 29 countries in Africa and middle east where FGM is concentrated . It is

mostly carried out on young girls between infancy and age of 15 ,FGM is a violation of human

rights of girls and women .

2} Sanitation and hygiene

A lack of access of water , sanitation and hygiene [WASH] effects women disproportionally , due

to both biological and cultural factors . In addition to meeting women’s specific practical needs ,

WASH is also essential for their social and economical development , contributing towards

gender equality and realization of their rights.

3}Women trafficking

Throughout globe specially in Asia , women trafficking is been issue for effecting sexual health

of women . The crime of sexual trafficking and slavery is widespread . Source countries from

which significant n numbers of women were trafficked in 2002 includes Burma , Thailand

,Vietnam, Russia , Nepal ,China and Philippines. Destination countries for these trafficked

women include India , Cambodia, Canada , Sudan and United state of America.

By women trafficking STD , HIV and sexual trauma increase . Another aspects is that it

threats to mental health such as depression , substance abuse , post-traumatic stress disorder

[PTSD] and the complex psychological burden of rape , slavery and sexual exploitation.

4} Drug Abuse

Drug abuse effects health of women in very drastic manner . It is common in women suffering

from cocaine addiction and heroin abuse. Some drugs can cause women to stop ovulation. As a

result, women will have to deal with infertility problems and may need to seek reproduction

assistance later in life . Many drugs the chemical balance in reproductive system , causing to

damage to organ themselves. Cocaine abuse for example can cause abnormality in a women’s

fallopian tubes , preventing conception later In life . A women’s egg can become damaged in

children with health problem.

5} Right of abortion

From global point of view ,abortion is legalized in maximum number of countries but it can be

done under certain ground which vary from nation to nation . Generally all the Islamic countries

which include Iran , Iraq, Myanmar , Egypt , Pakistan , Venezuela, Qatar, Maturities, Israel ,

Bangladesh , Libya , Sudan , Malaysia and Netherland ;which allow abortion only on ground to

safe the life of women , they don’t consider other factors as rape , socio-economical factors as

important issue. But on the same hand , western countries such as India , Russia, USA, UK ,

France, Germany , Zimbabwe, Argentina, Japan , Sri-Lanka, Bolivia provide abortion right on

various grounds. So if right to abortion is to be made fundamental universally accepted right

than the ground on which it is allowed should be fixed.

Methodology

The data used while drafting the paper is both primary and secondry . the primary data is

referred from legal text books , cases and online portals . the secondry data is complied from

the observation and through debate activities .the author tries to put the active and upto date

information on content. The old data and false facts has been avoided .

CONCLUSION / SOLUTION

It is not wrong to say that society is in progressive state but still there some sectors of the

soceity that has been surpressed . Women emopowerment and harassment is the human made

problem while on other hand women sexual and reproduc tive health issues kept growing.

There is urgent need to look after both the aspects as soon as possiable. The problem can not

solved by only identifing problem but also we need to emphasis on making and implementing

stragecies which can deal with sitiutaion. NGOs, government bodies, corpoatrate sectors and

other financial institute need to play active role for it. It is also remmonded that to vanish this

issue from root level speacial body need to made which can alert the issue at remote area and

tackle the situation from ground level. The global outlook over the issue can only be solved by

the common contribution from the various states, for this all the nation has to up and

formulate such action plans which can address the render issue in larger scale. There are some

suggestion made for solving this issue after discussion . The suggestive solution are as follow-

A-> Promote the making of sex education compulsory at school and from village level .

B-> Encourage MEDC’s to send humanitarian and medicinal help {like doctor without border} to

those in need, including but not limited to LEDCs.

C-> Emboldens government to set up organization that educate[Men, Women and Children]

about their human right.

D-> Encourages countries to promote women empowerment by:

Making reservation for women in all possible sectors of employment.

By starting campaigns that prepare unemployment women for employment.

Recognizing domestic unpaid labor as essential to a country’s economy and provide

them with benefits.

E-> Proclaim the formation and enforcement of efficient fast track courts for victims of rape

and sexual harassment.

G->Encourages government dealing with women trafficking to impression [for at least 7yr].

H-> Endorses counseling of men, women and children [at an age where they are venerable]

epically

When they have suffered some sought of sexual harassment.

At least 48 hr before they option for abortion to make them aware of short and long

term advantages, disadvantages and consequences.

For victims of any form of sexual mental and physical abuse.

I-> Promotes government to form toll free help lines where any information about violence,

harassment women can be reported.

J-> Promotes government to make safe abortion legal and accessible is case of:

Rape.

Fontal Impairment.

Danger to the mother’s health.
