Kementerian memberi pertimbangan kepada permohonan projek-projek penyelidikan PRGS berdasarkan kriteria-kriteria seperti berikut: 1.Kertas cadangan projek penyelidikan yang menepati kriteria penyelidikanpembangunan 2.pototaip, mantap serta lengkap mengikut Garis Panduan PRGS; 3.Kos projek penyelidikan yang dipohon tidak melebihi RM 500,000.00 dengan tempoh penyelidikan maksimum sehingga dua (2) tahun sahaja; 4. Setiap Ketua Penyelidik hanya boleh mengemukakan satu (1) permohonan sahaja 5. Semua penyelidik adalah dipohon untuk mengambil perhatian akan perkara-perkara berikut:
5.1 Geran PRGS ini dimohon secara manual 5.2 Disertakan jadual aktiviti geran penyelidikan PRGS Fasa 1/2015 untuk rujukan 5.3 Penghantaran permohonan ke Pejabat CoRe hendaklah dalam bentuk softcopy dan hardcopy atau emailkan kepada [email protected] dengan memajukan semua dokumen yang diperlukan.

LAMPIRAN C MAKLUMAT PEMBENTANGAN PERMOHONAN SKIM GERAN PENYELIDIKAN PEMBANGUNAN PROTOTAIP (PRGS) FASA 1/2015 Tempoh •Setiap pembentangan akan mengambil masa 25 minit yang merangkumi 15 minit sesi pembentangan dan 10 minit soal jawab oleh panel penilai. Bilangan •Setiap Ketua Projek hanya dibenarkan membawa seorang Penyelidik bersama dan seorang wakil Pusat Pengurusan Penyelidikan (RMC). Kehadiran •Ketua Projek diwajibkan untuk menyampaikan pembentangan. Pembentang diminta untuk hadir 30 minit lebih awal dari masa yang ditetapkan seperti jadual di Lampiran A. • FRGS research on wood carving identify three main
category in wood carving furniture potentiality as for 'Domestic Products', 'Business Opportunity' and 'Enthusiast products' market category.
• The focus of this prototyping project will be on 'Enthusiast' Wood carving products type for furniture industry with the aim to increase 200% value if compare to existing furniture carving products. 'Enthusiast' products categorize as 'hi-end, expensive, elegance, exclusive, latest in trend and style' type of products and brands.
• 'DigiWood Carving Design' variance has strong commercial value and product direction and impetus to qualify as an 'Enthusiat' product [3] with Prada, Gucci and Versace being the benchmark.

visual motifs will be adopt as 3D surface appearance on potential furniture parts, components and products where scale model will be fabricate through Rapid Prototyping process. Scale Rapid Prototyping model will visualy, dimensionaly and specifically justified with before being selected for full scale CNC fabrication on combination of specific timber joinery.

• These innovative prototype combination of carving
and batik digital design approach on wood furniture will maintain the Malays wood carving philosophy and soul integrated well with advanced design manufacturing technology [5]. which in long term will develop advanced wood furniture industry towards a competetive products and leverage Malaysian furniture manufactures to achieve NATIP RM53 bilion worth of target.

Aesthetic research design study explain that Malaysian wood carving only focus intensively in 2 dimensional motives and elements, where the skills development process towards 3 dimensional carving especially the flow of flora and fauna that make difficult for new carpenter which is not economical for carpenter.
Existing wood carving products by small wood base manufacturer from traditional practices inherited generation by generation and mainly based on aesthetics exploration.

Wood carving furniture manufacturer mostly involve with furniture parts and depend to much from major manufacturer and mainly backyard carpenter and with low productivity.

•The prototype originality will be covered with Industrial Design Rights intellectual property as based on scenario described above, the digitize 3 dimensional design carving template IP will be utilize as a carving design data for full-scale living furniture carving prototyping. •3 dimensional wood carving motive will become a novelty reference furniture manufacturer that need Malays wood carving motif in their production of furniture product. The digitized carving motif is important towards 3 dimensional for automation and robotics production in furniture industry. •The advanced wood working technology has capability to produce 3 dimensional in the furniture product based on the design requirements. • The new 3 dimensional wood carving is significant towards advanced furniture technology which will help to make our competitive globally and at the same time preserved Malays wood carving heritage and aesthetic value..

Malaysian Timber Dialog stresss the important of new innovative products as to achieving the NATIP target of RM53 billion worth of timber products by 2020 which 60% of the export should derived from value added products as an essential to restore future growth [1]. This project aim to provide valuable solution as an essential design stratergy to restore future growth in furniture industry especially the wood base furniture carving exclusiveness. Previous studies on Malaysian wood carving furniture explain that local design motives and elements with 2 dimensional carving approached lack of commercial competetiveness in global market where the demand for quality workmanship and products which blend well with trend of modernization living style slowly ignored the important of furniture carving where the new direction of furniture industry become the aim to preserved Malays wood carving heritage and aesthetis is very challenging and not economically sustainable.
