The Itinerary Day 1. Sunday 22 October: Melbourne - Murray Bridge - Proud Mary Supper Today we meet at Melbourne Tullamarine Aiport for our afternoon flight across to Adelaide, upon arrival we meet our local coach captain and make our way across to the Murray River Port of Murray Bridge. We arrive at Sturt Reserve where we are welcomed aboard by the friendly Proud Mary Paddleboat crew. This evening we enjoy a buffet supper at approximately 8:30pm as we cruise this evening as the Proud Mary`s powerful floodlights illuminate the shore. It is a perfect opportunity to view the nocturnal animals of Australia in their natural habitat. Later the Proud Mary ties up for the night at Sunnyside. Overnight Proud Mary Day 2. Monday 23 October: Mannum - Walkers Flat Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Today our cruise continues upstream as we enjoy breakfast of a delicious buffet before a mid-morning Proud Mary arrival in picturesque Mannum, the birthplace of the river boat trade. Here we board the waiting coach for an inter- esting tour of the Historic Mannum with commentary with our local guide. Later we return to the Proud Mary where lunch is served aboard as we cruise upstream to Walkers Flat. This evening is “Australiana Night” featuring typically Australian dishes. Dinner is followed by a guided Nocturnal Discovery Tour where we gain an insight into the abun- dant local wildlife including the Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat. Overnight Proud Mary Day 3. Tuesday 24 October: Swan Reach - Blanchetown - Portee Landing Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner This morning after breakfast the Proud Mary cruises further upstream. We arrive in Swan Reach and board our waiting coach for a tour to visit Murray Aquaculture, one of the most ambitious Aquaculture projects undertaken in Australia. The fresh water crustacean is uniquely Australian and is only one of many species of crayfish found in Australia. With our local guide we are guided through the complex covering 10,000 sq metres of ponds. We then cruise up through the shallows to Blanchetown. Proud Mary secures at Blanchetown, site of the Lock and Weir No. 1 on the River Murray. The river is dammed by 13 locks built for the early riverboat trade. Water cascades over the lock creating an excellent feeding place for bird-life. Pelicans and dozens of species of water birds are found diving in the water to feed. Our cruise this evening then takes us to Moorundie Creek, named after the Aboriginal tribe that lived there. The Proud Mary moors overnight on a beautiful beach amongst towering River Red Gums. Day 4. Wednesday 25 October: Portee Station - Swan Reach - Big Bend Breakfast, Lunch & DinnerThis morning we wake up in one of the most unspoilt and picturesque areas of the River Murray. We are taken on an environmental discovery walk of Moorundie Creek, even today we can see evidence of an ancient Aboriginal civilisation - a huge canoe tree still stands. A highlight of our cruise is a guided cruise lead by an ecologist aboard a small boat through the lagoons and inlets of Big Bend. This evening there is a traditional Australian barbecue on shore followed by live Aussie entertainment around a blazing camp-fireOvernight Proud Mary

Day 5. Thursday 26 October: Ngaut Ngaut - Mannum Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner This morning we have time for further exploration of the tranquil Australian bush. The Proud Mary continues down-stream through some of the most spectacular scenery on the entire River Murray system. We arrive at Ngaut Ngaut - a historical Aboriginal site. Here with our Aboriginal tour guide we discover carvings and paintings on cliff facesmade 3,000 to 20,000 years ago. Late afternoon we arrive in Mannum for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a formalCaptain's Dinner.Overnight Proud Mary

Day 6. Friday 27 October: Woodlane - Murray Bridge Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Following breakfast the Proud Mary departs once more. Mid morning we arrive in Woodlane and board the waiting coach to experience the Reedy Creek Environment tour. We are joined by our guide for a tour of this fascinating area and the opportunity to discover this permanent watercourse from waterfalls, through swamps and wetlands. Reedy Creek and the waterfalls played a significant part in the lives of the ancient Nganguruku and Ngaralta Aboriginal Tribes. Today, lunch is a superb buffet prepared with fresh local produce. This afternoon we enjoy more spectacular scenery before the vessel ties up once more in Murray Bridge. We bid the Captain, crew and new-found friends fare-well before disembarkation at 4.00 pm. We then make our way to our accommodation in Murray Bridge where we check in and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Day 7. Saturday 28 October: Murray Bridge - Melbourne Breakfast This morning with bags packed we travel back to Adelaide enjoying a highlights tour of the city of churches along the way to the airport. We arrive at the Adelaide Airport mid morning to check in for our onward flight to Melbourne after after a wonderful week away with Trade Travel exploring the Mighty Murray River and surrounding ports.
