SCHOOL COMMENCEMENT MASS Our School Commencement Mass to officially launch the 2020 Educational Year will be held on Tuesday 11th February at 11.30am in the Veritas Hall @ Prouille. Our new school leaders for 2020 will also be presented with their badges at this mass. Everybody is welcome to join us on this special occasion. Everybody is invited to attend and it will occur from 2.00 – 2.30pm. This will conclude with assembly at 2.30pm.

At assembly this week we will introduce our new Kindergarten students. Being a parent is a hard job, a complicated job and sometimes a lonely job. Probably, it’s the most important job parents will ever have, because as their child’s first teacher, they will make a difference. However, parents have the opportunity to form a viable partnership with their child’s teacher, because together they have a common goal: a successful school year for each child.

It’s important to remember that parents and teachers are partners in helping each child achieve a successful transition to adulthood. This combined support is essential if the transition is to be a positive developmental experience for your child. A good relationship with your child’s teacher provides an opportunity for you to stay informed about your child’s progress across all areas of schooling and to work together if problems arise during the year. At Prouille we value and encourage this highly valued partnership that assists your child succeed at school. Welcome to the 2020 School Year which I hope will be a rewarding year for everyone in our school community.

God, our Father, bless us, so that Your Spirit within us will give us a common bond as together we take responsibility for the well-being of Your gift of creation to us. We ask for strength and determination to create more space in our lives for You, so that by the example of our lives, our children will be inspired to follow Your ways.

SWIMMING CARNIVAL Monday 17th February is our Swimming Carnival which will be held at Hornsby Aquatic Centre. The Carnival is for students in Years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. The children will commence departing by bus at 9:10am. The Carnival commences at 9:30am. The children will return by bus at 2:00pm. Please join us for a day of good sportsmanship and team spirit.

Go Jennings, O’Brien, Rawlings and Crawford!!!!

Thank you to all those parents who offered to help out at the Carnival. All parents who have been allocated a job will be informed. We need more volunteers so if you could assist please let us know. Parents you will need to check that you have filled out the online nomination forms for your students as we are finalising the carnival and we do not want your children to miss out. Parents could you please also ensure that you have indicated your “going home” arrangements for your child/children after the Carnival. Please be aware that once arrangements are made they cannot be changed as it affects our booking for the buses.

RE P& F News

A warm welcome to 2020 from the Prouille P & F to all our teachers, parents and students. We are looking forward to another super charged year filled with community and spirit.

2019 was a busy and productive year which saw the P&F host annual events such as the Welcome Cocktail Party, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, the school disco, ice-block Friday's, end of term lunches, along with the cake stall, BBQ & Canteen at the Athletics Carnival.

We co-ordinated with class parents’ in organising social events for their classes and the celebration of teacher’s birthdays and milestones. We also assisted the school with their very first Colour Run; what a memorable and colourful day that was!! We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the people that put their hands up to volunteer their time. Without you we wouldn’t be able to facilitate these events at all so THANK YOU!

At the end of 2018 the P&F donated $10,000 to the school which was used in 2019 towards STEM. Technology is forever evolving, and we are glad we could contribute to this platform to compliment the high standard of education our children are receiving.

As a token of our immense appreciation for the amazing teaching and support staff at Prouille, in 2019 we also gifted the staff room with a new Nespresso machine. We hope those coffees help you through your very busy days!

This year we will be celebrating the schools 70Th anniversary! Rumour has it we might have a trivia night to celebrate…watch this space.

P & F meetings occur each term and are advertised in advance in the newsletter; everyone is welcome – volunteering together helps to make the Prouille community an even better place for our children.

We are very much looking forward to sharing another fun filled year with you all.
