● Strong water-resistant properties – top sheet offers water-resistant characteristics and excellent glueability properties for the base sheet

● Partly water resistant for several days – low water absorption, excellent strength even in high-humidity environments, and outstanding Cobb60 values

● Improved corrugator runnability – omission of wax-dosing units on corrugators can increase converting speed by 10-15% and save time otherwise needed for removing paraffin residues

● Safety and environmental issues – improved working conditions (no unpleasant paraffin odour) and reduced risk of fire at the corrugator

Effect on box parameters – tensile stiffness

The bottom of the corrugated box can be modelled as a rectangular plate ->

deflection d of the box bottom could be considered as deflection d of the

rectangular plate under load. Deflection of the plate is inversely proportional to

plate curvature R, bending stiffness Sb and tensile stiffness St.

Higher tensile stiffness St of the corrugated board (i.e. constituent liners St,

L1 and St, L2) would result in higher bending stiffness and lower deflection of

the box bottom!

Effect on box parameters – tensile stiffness

BCT, or the maximum vertical load which the corrugated box can withstand, also depends on bending Sb (and tensile St) stiffness according to the McKee equation:

Boxes made of board with higher St,MD and St,CD would have lower bottom

In order fully to exploit the excellent characteristics of Pro Vantage Kraftliner

Aqua, the use of water-resistant glue is recommended.
