ENGINEERED TECHNOLOGIES
The ESPC system is innovative software applied in the PLCs of a WWTP with target to optimize the dynamic performance of the critical processes. The developed algorithms have the ability to handle multivariate constrained control problems and provide optimal actions. The main advantage of the system is the easy control of the multivariate processes, accompanied with incorpora-tion of constraints on manipulated variables, while at the same time its actions are optimised for several steps ahead, accord-ing to a specific time. Moreover, the use of historical data and the integration of the upcoming events prediction, produce forecasts for wastewater inflows as well as for other critical parameters in the future.
MES ENERGY’s vision is to develop added value tech-nologies which in the close future will be able to resolve problems of the global market. Motivated by creating new products and services, MES ENERGY in cooperation with world - renowned research centres, looks at developing knowledge-intensive applica-tions for the global energy and environment market.
The ORM (Organic Rankine Machine) is a system developed by MES ENERGY and the Agricultural University of Athens which exploits waste heat of temperature 90-120˚C and transforms it into electricity with a net efficiency of 7-9%. The system can be applied in biomass/biogas facili-ties, facilities with poor biogas and other systems with waste heat. ORM comes in a power range of 5-15 kWe.
OPTIMUS is a matlab based software mod-eller for grid connected energy storage systems developed by MES ENERGY and the NTUA (National Technical University of Athens). The software optimises the reve-nue stream coming from variable energy flows such as energy to market flows, FIT flows, demand response, frequency response or others by integrating various regulatory & technical inputs. The software is equipped with a wide range of programmed modules and mathematical models for the simulated components such as batteries, PVs, inverters etc.
S2E PACK is a resource-efficient, cost-ef-fective and affordable technology solution for decentralised sewage sludge incineration plants. The novelty of the S2E PACK lies on the one hand in the integra-tion of several process units into a single apparatus and on the other hand in the utilisation of a novel material to support the sewage sludge combustion process. We focus on technology combustion of sewage sludge in plants of less than 1 MW power output. The S2E PACK ensures reduction of the investment costs for a sewage sludge incineration plant by approximately 30% as compared to current state-of-the-art technology which may lead in constructing decentralised sewage sludge incineration plants signifi-cantly more economical.
