Safety Cable Whipchecks - Hose Restraints

A pressurized air hose in case of hose failure or accidental uncoupling could cause the hose assembly

to whip violently due to the sudden release of energy. This could make the whipping hose lethal and

create a potentially dangerous situation. In such a scenario PSC Whipchecks ensure safety from

injury and property damage. Whipchecks are safety cables made of corrosion resistant, high strength

steel which on installation diverts strain on the coupling to the Whipcheck. Installation of

Whipchecks is easy and requires no tools- the spring loaded loops of the Whipcheck are opened and

slipped over each hose providing a firm grip on the hose and avoiding it from whipping in case of

accidents. Whipchecks are commonly used on hose for air, water blast, drilling, steam, concrete,

sandblast or other high pressure applications. Use of Whipchecks has been made mandatory by

workers compensation boards, bureau of mines, OSHA and various other government bodies. With a

Snubby Hoist Line Limiter

A hoisting hook accidentally placed under load when attached to a deck anchor point or handrail

could result in anchor failure. In addition, the re-coil under high load could be extremely dangerous

for personnel in the immediate area. To help prevent potential damage and injury, Project Sales

Corp offers the Snubby hoist anchor point weak-link safety device from Web Devices, Houston. The

Snubby is cleverly designed to: Progressively tear when 1,500- 1,600 pound pull load is applied.

Open in length 3' 6" until it separates. Deploy a bright orange web strap as it opens to warn the

operator or personnel in the immediate area. Snubby consists of a web shock absorber encased in a

protective sheath and has a web loop and 3" forged ring. The loop can be choked or shackled to an

anchor point. The anchor selected should be structurally capable of resisting a minimum of 3,000lbs

(2:1sf). When the Snubby is attached to an appropriate anchor, the hoisting hook can then be

attached to the ring and load applied to secure the hoisting wire rope. Only enough load to snug the

hoisting rope should be applied. Snubby should be removed from service if deployed or damaged in

Magnetic Patch for Leak Repairs

MIKO magnetic patch qualified by DNV GL for sealing off sea chests, water inlets and outlets

directly in the water. The seal is achieved by the water pressure coupled with the magnetic

adhesion between the patch and the steel surface. The magnetic patches are designed for

long term storage and are not demagnetized after use. The outer layer is a polyester-

reinforced PVC matting, strong enough to lift an average car with a 50 mm wide stripe. The

inner layer is a nitrile rubber sheeting that provides the magnetic holding force as well as

strong frictional force and sealing effect against the steel surface. The larger sizes of Miko

Plaster are equipped with a buoyancy sheet to facilitate easy handling under water.

Magnetic patches have now been used on numerous occasions when they have saved many

types of vessel from sinking. However, the simplicity of the concept denies the technology

and years of research that went into them. Each patch must achieve a powerful bond despite

what may be many layers of paint or corrosion covering the metal. This is achieved by mixing

rare earth particles with an exceptionally strong blend of Nitrile rubber. With a stretch

strength of 9000 N per 5 cm it means that a 5 cm strip of the fabric can lift a car and is

therefore more than adequate for most repair applications.
