Community Pharmacy Public Health Campaign and Additional Audit Raising awareness about the oral health and oral pain management of children and young people in London Dear colleagues Community Pharmacy voluntary audit and public health campaign 2016 The latest NHS England (London) voluntary audit and public health campaign commences on 1 st November 2016 for community pharmacists, which will focus on raising awareness about the about the oral health and oral pain management of children and young people in London. This campaign will run for 4 weeks from 1 st November 2016 to 30 th November 2016. There are two parts: • Public Health Campaign – Carrying out a mandatory, brief intervention under the community pharmacy contractual framework when a parent or carer visits your pharmacy collecting oral analgesic prescriptions for their child or who are purchasing or seeking advice about over-the-counter pain medicines. •Voluntary Audit - An additional, voluntary element to this campaign is to record the responses of a brief intervention using a simple online tool, which can be used on your computer, ipad or smartphone. Based on the successful 2015 Asthma Audit, NHS England (London) has an expectation of an average of 15 patient entries per pharmacy but in anticipation of reaching this target, pharmacies will receive a fixed payment of £75.00 for a minimum of six patient entries using the survey tool. The health promotion is a mandatory requirement under the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework, however if all community pharmacies take part in the voluntary audit, NHS England London region will accept this as participation in the health promotion. To record your participation in the mandatory campaign you will be provided with a link to the online tool at the end of the campaign.
