  • Our Swansfield Fitness Friday Striders Program is about to come to an end and the students have been working hard on their laps. As of April 11, the students had logged more than 2,200 miles or 9,039 laps! Thank you to everyone that has volunteered! Tentative last Fitness Fridays: May 30 & June 7.Staff Appreciation Week was this week May 5th - 9th and I want to thank everyone for their contributions. Special thanks to Scott and Stacey for their all their hard work to ensure our teachers felt appreciated.Volunteers are needed for our 5th grade DJ party on June 13 from 1:30-3 please look for more info to sign up in the PTA Newsletter.

    Save the Date for Field Day! Field Day is Friday, May 23rd with the rain date on Friday, May 30th. Ninety volunteers are needed for the day. Sign-up Genius will be utilized for volunteers to register for the event. The morning session runs from 8:45-11:15 and still needs 28 parents. The afternoon session runs from 11:45-2:15 and still needs 32 parents. Please volunteer for at least one session or better yet, spend the whole day with the kids! Here's how to sign up: 1. Go to: www.signupgenius.com 2. Click on the green tab "Find A Sign Up" 3. Enter: [email protected] 4. Select: Field Day Volunteer Sign Up 2014 5. Enter Access Code:field day Cultural Arts: African Step Dance On Thursday morning, May 15th, Swansfield students will watch performers from `Step Africa' do a fast-paced step dance full of energy. They will also learn about how this dance form has evolved during their assembly.

    Enviro Drum Mark your calendars for another FREE FAMILY FUN NIGHT on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria with Enviro Drum-Maryland, a high-energy quartet consisting of three Stomp-like percussionists performing on household items and recycling bins plus a keyboard player/vocalist. Percussion-based pieces as well as standards and contemporary pop songs are performed, often with audience participation. The songs are connected by scientific and environmental information based on the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle concept and are adjusted according to the audience age level.

    We hope to see families come and enjoy this great event.
