Allow extra time As part of Victoria’s Big Build, we’re removing 75 dangerous and congested level crossings with 35 already gone. On the Frankston Line, we’re removing 18 crossings and building 12 new stations. We’ve started removing the Mentone and Cheltenham level crossings as well as constructing the Kananook train storage facility. Early works on the Chelsea, Edithvale and Bonbeach level crossing removals have also started. These works are for the completion of the new Kananook Train Storage Facility that will store six trains. Train storage facilities provide the essential daily services needed to keep Melbourne's train fleet running reliably. The new storage facility will include a new signal control centre that will allow train movements to be managed from a central location, minimising disruptions for Frankston line commuters. For more information please visit levelcrossings.vic.gov.au May disruption Buses will replace trains between Moorabbin and Mordialloc from 11pm Saturday 23 May to July. Buses also replace trains between Frankston and Stony Point during this time. Accessibility If you need help or cannot board a replacement bus, please contact PTV prior to travelling on 1800 800 007 or speak to our staff at the bus stop for alternative transport to be arranged at no cost. Health and Safety The health and safety of our workers and the community is our key priority as we continue to remove level crossings along the Frankston Line, as is supporting physical distancing measures in line with current health advice. We have strict protocols in place to protect the safety of our construction workforce, including enhanced industrial cleaning arrangements, provision of personal protective equipment and measures to reduce staff contact, including staggered shifts. There is also increased cleaning across the public transport network to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), including rail replacement buses. This includes nightly sanitation of all trains, trams, and buses, including wiping down all touch surfaces and entirely spraying with disinfectant. There will also be enhanced cleaning during bus layovers at major interchanges.
