Improvements - Resurfacing

Existing Curb Ramps Will Be

Reconstructed• Reconstructed sidewalks will be 5’ wide.

• Will raise the ramp to match top of new

pavement.

• When feasible, will meet ADA

requirements.

• Even if restrictions make full compliance

infeasible, the ramp will still be

reconstructed.

• This work will require Temporary

Easements from property owners.

• 3-Lane Alternative provides similar traffic

operations to the 4-Lane Alternative.

• 3-Lane Alternative provides possible 47%

reduction in crashes along the corridor.

Recommendations

The Iowa DOT recommends implementing the

3-Lane Alternative on US 65 between 6th Street

N. and 18th Street N.

If the City Council concurs with the DOT’s

recommendation, the 3-Lane Alternative will be

implemented.
