PUBLIC PARKS AND GARDENS SUSTAINABLE EXPERIENCES Conference in Helsingborg, Sweden 3 april 2014 For the seventh year in a row we will be holding our popular conference on garden tourism, with inspirational lectures, exchanges of experiences and a chance to mingle. The conference offers one of the most important venues of the year for private or public sector employees working with public ‘green’ structures. The conference offers an exciting exposé about ongoing projects which are divided into two themes: in the morning ideas and drafts focusing on innovative development of public venues are presented. During the afternoon we will hear about successful projects regarding restoration of parks and gardens of particular cultural and historical interest. The lecturers are from Italy, Portugal, England, Germany and Sweden. The conference will be held in English. Presentations of lecturersPhil Askew is an English landscape architect and urban planner. He works at London Legacy Development Corporation, the public sector, not-for-profit organization responsible for the long-term planning, development, management and maintenance of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its facilities after the London 2012 Games.

Richard Barley is Director of Horticulture at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, in the UK. He has recently come to this role, after 30 years with the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, Australia, and then three years as CEO of Open Gardens Australia. He has strong interests in sustainable management of living landscapes, engaging young people in gardens, and garden-based tourism.

Christian Grüssen is an urban planner. After working as a researcher at Dortmund University, he set up his own consultancy in 2000. He is spe-cializing in the management of (European funded) regional development projects, such as the European Garden Heritage Network, Hybrid Parks or the Garden Tourism Project for North Rhine-Westphalia which will be open for other EGHN partners soon.

Stefan Günther is property manager and building curator at Gunnebo House and Gardens. He is a trained restoration architect, has a PhD in ar-chitectural history and represents Sweden in ICOMOS’ International Wood Committee. Stefan is project leader for the reconstruction of Gunnebo Orangery and is also planning the restoration of the interior of Gunnebo House in cooperation with an internationally composed reference group.

Martin Hadmyr has newly been appointed as city head gardener in the City of Helsingborg with responsibility for green development issues. With a background as landscape architect and a key person in city design issues he envisions a big potential in uniting the green investments with the vision of a living city.

Emanuele Montibeller established in 1986 the Arte Sella exhibition, one of the most influential Art in Nature projects in Italy. He is in charge to be

the art director of Arte Sella. He manages or acts as a consultant for the development of many cultural projects in Italy and abroad.

Nuno Oliveira joint Parques de Sintra Monte da Lua (PSML) in 2008, and is the Technical Director for Parks and Gardens. PSML is the public company responsible for the management of the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Cultural Landscape of Sintra – with the most important sites Palace and Park of Monserrate, Palace and Park of Pena, Moorish Castle, Cork Convent, National Palace of Sintra, National Palace of Queluz and the Portuguese Equestrian Art School.

Mariachiara Pozzana is an architect, specialized in landscape conservation. She is based in Florence where she has a privat bureau . Prior she was ar-chitect for the italian Government in Monument Conservation Office. She is member of the EGHN European Garden Award Jury, member of ICOMOS Italy and responsible for the Italian Committee for Cultural Landscapes.

Lena Vikström is Managing director at Gunnebo House and Gardens. Lena have been working at Gunnebo since 1996 first as a project manager in the project Gunnebo return to the 18th century with the objective of restoring the facility after surviving original drawings and to develop the site as a visitor destination. In the autumn of 2013 the reconstruction started of Gunnebo’s orangery.

ModeratorCecilia Liljedahl has during the last five years had her own business and is a contractor in terms of development projects for public parks. She was one of the initiators of SSPPG and is project leader for the network. Previo-usly she has been eleven years as site manager at Sofiero. She participates since 2010 in the EU-project Hybrid Parks and has introduced the network EGHN in Sweden. She is one of those responsible for themes and content of the conference.
