Principal’s report
Life Education
Today we had our first classes attend the Life
Education van. KM, K/1 and 5/6B had a wonderful time.
The K and K/1 classes learning about safe and unsafe
behaviours, as well as looking at healthy food options.
5/6B children discussed and learned about the effects
of alcohol, laws relating to alcohol and strategies
relating to peer pressure. Year 6 in particular enjoyed
their final visit with Harold! All other classes will attend
the van next week. Thank you to our parents for
supporting this very worthwhile program.
Choir performance
Our choir performed today at the Ex Services club as
part of Senior Citizen’s Week. The audience members
thoroughly enjoyed being entertained by our students.
Thank you to these wonderful children and to Mrs
Davis who have given up lots of afternoon tea time to
practice.
NAPLAN information
Next term our Year 3 and 5 students will participate in
the National Assessment Program in Literacy and
Numeracy (NAPLAN). These national tests will be
conducted from Tuesday 13 May to Thursday 15 May.
A separate information letter has been sent home
today to parents of these students. Any parents with
questions or concerns regarding the NAPLAN test are
more than welcome to contact me.
University of NSW Competitions
Entries are now open for interested Years 3-6 students
wishing to participate in the University of NSW
competitions. The following competitions and costs
available are: Spelling $12; Writing $18 and
Mathematics $9. Entry forms are available from the
office or via our website and Skoolbag app.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Many parents have already met with teachers this week
to discuss their child’s progress. These term 1interviews
are a wonderful opportunity for parents to ‘touch base’
with teachers and find out how their child is travelling
so far. Any parents who were unable to meet during
the times allocated are more than welcome to contact
teachers to arrange another suitable time.
Swimming surveys
Thank you to those parents who have sent in their
surveys regarding a possible school swimming
program. At this stage 28 have been received. Of these,
24 have indicated that they would support a school
program, 4 do not. It is vitally important that we get as
many of these back as possible to get a clear indication
from all of our families. If you want to have your say
please return these before next week’s P&C meeting.
Anti-Bullying & Harmony day
A reminder that tomorrow is our day to take a stand
against bullying and to encourage tolerance and caring
of others. All students are asked to wear orange to
show their support. These messages are widely
promoted throughout Junee North all year-round
through our expectations and classroom programs.
Our students are taught to recognise bullying and the
strategies they need to use if they feel they are being
bullied. One of the most important messages is for
them to let someone know! Our teachers and I will
always act on bullying reports if they are reported.
Enclosed with today’s newsletter is our Anti-Bullying
brochure which has been developed as part of our
Anti-Bullying policy. Take the time to read and discuss
it with your child.
Family Details
There are often occasions where we need to contact
parents and carers. It is vitally important that this
information is up-to-date. Our new Skoolbag app
allows parents to update their details very easily; or
alternatively a copy of the family details update note is
attached to today’s newsletter.
Welcome back Mrs Post!
Mrs Bostock will not be returning to Junee North for
the rest of this year. She will be continuing in her new
role at the Centre for Reading. Mrs Bianca Smith has
done a wonderful job in caring for the students in 3/4S
this term. Unfortunately she will be relocating to
Victoria at the end of this term. We wish Mrs Smith all
the best in her future (and especially with the arrival
later in the year of her first baby!). We are very
fortunate to have Mrs Donna Post returning to us. Mrs
Post will take charge of the 3/4 class from the
commencement of Term 2 – welcome back Mrs Post!

A wonderful response by our parents!
Over the past week Mrs Leigh Fitzgerald has been in
contact with many families regarding getting accurate
details into our system. These families will be getting
letters next week regarding updating their details as
discussed with Mrs Fitzgerald. This could mean a
considerable impact on our school’s funding! Please
get those letters/ forms in by Friday 4 April as the
department will be uploading this information during
the school holidays.

P&C News Working Bee this Saturday!
A reminder that we have our P&C working bee this
Saturday 22 March, commencing at 9:00 am. We have
a large load of soft-fall bark that needs spreading
under the playground equipment. We need as many
helpers as possible (with extra shovels and
wheelbarrows if you can!) to make this job easier. The
more helpers, the quicker we can get this much-
needed job done.
Our next meeting – we need new members!
Our next meeting is set down for Tuesday 1 April at
6:30 pm in the staffroom. At this meeting we need to
elect a new President. We are in desperate need of
some new parents to put up their hand to be part of
next year’s committee. Now is a great time to come
along and learn about each role while the current
committee members are in place. Parents need to
understand that if we don’t get a new committee next
year, there will be no funds raised for your children;
our canteen cannot operate; our uniforms cannot be
sold. Come along and help us to help your children.
Easter raffle
Today a raffle book containing 10 tickets is being sent
home with the youngest member of each family. There
will be 5 prizes of a lovely Easter basket. Tickets are $1
each. Tickets and money need to be returned, and the
raffle will be drawn on Friday 11 April at our Easter
Fun day.
Canteen News
Tomorrow to support Harmony Day we will be selling
orange jelly and orange cupcakes. Don’t forget we still
need helpers for our canteen.
Uniform orders
Attached to today’s newsletter is another winter jacket/
winter tunic order form. Orders are payment must be
in by 21 March to ensure they arrive by Term 2.

Sport News
Cricket success
Well done to both our boys and girls teams! The boys
won their second round game against Harden last
Friday; Yesterday our girls defeated Junee Public and
will now go on to their second round of the PSSA
Knockout. Huge thanks to Mr Baldock for his
organising and coaching of both teams.
Basketball trials
Congratulations to the boys and girls who travelled to
Albury on Monday to try out for the Riverina basketball
team. While none of our students made it through,
they all tried their hardest and were terrific competitors
showing wonderful enthusiasm and attitude.
District Soccer success
Several of our senior boys and girls travelled to
Cootamundra on Tuesday to try out for the
Cootamundra District soccer team. Well done to all
students who tried out. Congratulations to Ellie White,
Daminica Jackson, Grace Fahy, Jamie Whiles and Nick
Hogarth who were successful in being selected. These
students will now travel back to Cootamundra next
week to try out for the Riverina teams. Good luck!
Trent Barrett Shield
Next Tuesday we have many of our Year 3 and 4
students travelling to Temora to compete in the annual
Trent Barrett Rugby League/ League Tag shield. We
have some very keen children looking forward to the
day. The focus for the day is on having fun, learning
the game and team work. A reminder to parents
assisting with transport that we need to leave from
Junee North by 9:00am.
Robotics Workshops
Next week several lucky Year 4 and 6 students will be
attending a ‘RoboCup’ workshop at Charles Sturt
University. Last year we were very fortunate to have
been part of a special training day and subsequent
Junee District Robotics Competition. The Year 6
students attending this year were some of our
competitors last year. Our aim is to train these students
and the year 4 children to become our mentors. It is
hoped that eventually we can purchase some of our
own robotics kits and share this wonderful problem-
solving activity with lots of other students at Junee
North.
Community News
Happy Senior Citizens Week!
To all of our wonderful Junee Senior Citizens we say
‘Happy Seniors Week!’
Thank you to all of our wonderful senior citizens who
have supported Junee North over many years. Thank
you for continuing to instill your advice and values into
our young students.
We strive to ensure that we are educating our students
to become respectful and responsible community
members who will continue to take pride in our
wonderful town.
Junee North Public School
students are proud learners who
are:
Respectful – we treat ourselves and each
other with respect, show care and regard for
property
Responsible – we take responsibility for
our learning and our actions. We own up to
our mistakes so we can learn from them.
Safe – we always take care and act in a safe
and appropriate manner.
