Breeders’ Sales June Sale of Two Year Olds and Horses ofRacing Age nearly doubled compared to the same day lastyear at the June Sale as 191 head generated gross sales of$8,149,600. That compares to the last year’s second daywhen 173 juveniles sold for $4,357,800, a whopping 87%increase. The average jumped from $25,190 a year ago to$42,668 Thursday, a 69.4% improvement. The medianwas $17,000 Thursday, up from $13,000 last year.

Sweetwater Trading Co. as an agent for RockinghamRanch went to $420,000 for Hip 543, a chestnut filly byNyquist out of the stakes-winning, Midnight Lute mareMidnight Ballet. Midnight Ballet is also a half-sister tograded stakes-placed, stakes-winner Jala Jala (Mex),stakes-placed Moon Buzz and graded stakes-producerCroon. The filly was consigned by Eddie Woods as anagent and went an eighth-mile in :10.20.

Hip 418 garnered a final bid of $350,000 from AlistairRoden Bloodstock.
