What is the difference between a tutor and a mentor?A tutorial class is one in which a smaller group of students is accommodated with the aim of creating the opportunity for students to learn and to discuss work dealt with in main lectures. They are supplementary to the main lectures as these often have such large groups of students that per-sonalinteractionisdifficult.Notallprogrammes,however,have tutorial classes. A tutorial class and its tutor support studentsinrespectofthatspecificsubject. If you are in a residence, you will know that you have a residence mentor. A mentor supports students in respect of psycho-socialmatters.If you live privately, you will know that you have a Private StudentOrganisation(PSO)wardmentor.ContactyourResEdcoordinatororDrMunitaDunntofindoutaboutyourmentor. Every cluster has a mentor who is there to help you. SeeAppendixAformoredetails.
