Cinco de Mayo Celebration
at
St. Matthew’s
Sunday, May 1 at 11:15a
Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, May 1st after the second service. We will have a Mexican Buffet with carnitas to enchiladas. Build your own burrito, taco or tostada salad. It is a time to eat and fellowship together; while at the same time raising money to fight Malaria. The profit from our time together will be sent to “Imagine No More Malaria”. “Imagine No Malaria” is under the umbrella of the United Methodist Church. This is an opportunity to join the fight against Malaria. So join in on the fun and good food and help save millions of children by donating generously to “Imagine No More Malaria”.

MESSAGE FROM THE SOCIAL ACTION TEAM EVERY DAY IS EARTH DAY ENERGY EFFICIENCY & CLIMATE CHANGE Energy Efficiency is the easiest, fastest and least expensive way to curb climate change. Use new technologies to advance energy efficiency in your home and work-
place. Consider these actions:
• Convert/replace old incandescent light bulbs with new com-pact fluorescent lights (CGLs); now available at local stores. Through this action, individuals and organizations can reduce the effects of climate change.
• Reduce the effects of carbon, Green House Gases (GHGs), emissions from our business and homes through compliance with California’s Title 24 Building Code. This action means that new and renovated buildings will emit fewer GHGs and cost less to operate.
• Choose Energy Star home appliances and office equipment. Energy Star appliance standards are set by the USEPA and use less electricity or natural gas. This action will have a posi-tive impact on the global climate, reduce energy use and save money.
• Encourage an Energy Efficiency Ethic in your home and workplace. Turn-down thermostats and turn-off lights and appliances when not in use. Small changes in behavior are a great start.

Much needed items that are need right now are cooking oil, jelly and rice. Fresh produce is welcome.
