FOREWORD

This report is a compilation of published and unpublished research generated from 1980 to 1986 by the Acoustics Division and its predecessor, the Acoustics and Noise Reduction Division. The information assembled has been extracted from the 1980- 1986 issues of the Technical Memorandum entitled "Scientific and Technical lnformation Output of the Langley Research Center for Calendar Year ." The TM numbers assigned to these issues are 81 950 (1 980), 83270 (1 981), 8461 5 (1 982), 83735 (1983), 86336 (1984), 87655 (1985), and 89065 (1986).

The output described in the present document is the result of research performed both in-house and by personnel supported entirely or in part by grants and contracts. In addition to being grouped chronologically, the report is divided according to the following general headings:
