A City awarded with a high percentage of economic aid for the productive investment in order to generate employment.

One of the Spanish Cities granted with the European Aids ‘II Plan de la Minería del Carbón 2006-2012’ (aid to support the Coal Industry): up to 50% of the investment.

Grants that are compatible with other kind or related aids.

National Economic Aids, Regional Economic Aids and Puertollano City Council Aids: this way a new and alternative industry system will be consolidated and new industries will be launched in the city.

Since 2003 three phases of the estate development have been accomplished –La Nava I, La Nava II and La Nava III. All together will constitute an industrial estate larger than 2,500,000 m2.

Institute for Concentration Photovoltaic Systems

It is incorporated in the group of companies of the ‘Institute of Finance of the Regional Government Castilla-La Mancha’. ISFOC is the result of the R&D plan promoted by the Department of Education and Science of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and the Institute of Solar Energy of the ‘Technical University of Madrid’.

The project is financed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Government of Spain.

ISFOC main aim is to encourage the worldwide development of Concentration Photovoltaic Technology in Castilla-La Mancha.

The aims of the Centre are:

To lead the national strategy on hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

To co-ordinate the R&D activities in order to benefit the industrial sectors involved about the outcomes of R&D entities.

To carry out the activities not covered by the Science-Technology-Company National System.

To promote key projects to attract the attention of other companies and be the referent at a national level.

Iberdrola Thermosolar Plant in Puertollano.

Iberdrola, together with the Spanish Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), is building a 50 MW thermosolar plant. The building works started the 19th of March, 2007 and it is expected to be finished and to start its production at the end of 2008.

Monosilicon Wafers Plant.

Silicio Solar is the first monosilicon wafers plant in Spain. This means the creation of more than 500 job positions. The investment is over € 60,000,000. Due to the great demand of ingots and wafers, Silicio Solar will be expanded in ‘La Nava’, industrial and bussines area.

Solaria

Photovoltaic Panels Factory that produces:

• 5’’ Cells: come in power ratings from 165 w/183 w.

• 6’’ Cells: come in power ratings from 215 w – 245 w. Thermal Panels.

Renovalia, in an area of 97 Ha., will use more than 240,800 solar panels and it will generate a rate power of 47,6 MWn. This is a clean energy, 100% renewable, which will prevent the release of 1,029,546 tons of CO2 during the 25 years that the production will last.

SolFocus is working on the launch of a R&D Centre of Solar High Technology. It will imply 60 job positions and an important investment.

Waste to Energy Technologies: Design of the latest energetic solutions for the treatment of biomass or industrial waste with a higher heating value (HHV).

Proener: Company dedicated to make projects and installations of Photovoltaic Solar Plants.

Solgreen: Company that suggests and offers full solutions about Solar Systems development. Solgreen guarantees the quality of the technology and innovation.

Puertollano Química Verde: It is dedicated to the BIODIESEL production. It has an annual production of 24,000.

Bioenergética Española: Industrial Plant that produces 250,000 tons /year of biodiesel.
