Minutes of the 2016 Alumni Banquet held at Ringgold Fire Hall: The 127th annual Pulaski Academy and Central School Alumni Association banquet and meeting was held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Ringgold Fire Hall. President Theresa Clark-Switzer welcomed the guests and Pastor George Waggoner of the Calvary Baptist Church gave the invocation followed by the singing of the Alma Mater. A buffet catered by Ed Ward with assistance by the PACS Art Club and Mrs. Karen Backus was served. President Theresa Clark-Switzer opened the business meeting and thanked the Ringgold Fire Department, Ed Ward and the Art Club. The President asked for approval of the minutes of the 2015 meeting as printed in the newsletter. A motion was made by Connie Seiter and seconded by Charles Hinman for approval. All approved. Treasurer Tammie Frank Wilson presented the treasurer’s report for approval: Balances at the end of 2015 in Community Bank – Alumni Scholarship $5870.05, Harold Youker Scholarship $2781.69, Lura M. Sharp Scholarship $1993.26, Alumni General Fund $1259.38, Alumni checking $35.60 for a total of $11,939.98. Balances in the Central NY Community Fund – Alumni Scholarship Account $39,617.34, Harold Youker Scholarship Account $16,728.30, Lura M. Sharp Scholarship Account $34,665.42, Alumni General Fund $3853.88 for a total investment of $94,864.94. A motion was made by Don Cronk and seconded by Don Pratt to accept the treasurer’s report. All approved. Margaret Weigel reported that thank you notes were received from the following 2015 scholarship recipients: Jordan Turner, Jacob Atkinson, Max Lowery, Craig Gibbons, Aleah LaFlamme, Justin Eckert, Erik Oakes and Caleb Sedore. Deaths reported since the last meeting were printed in the program and include: C. A moment of silence was observed in their honor. Under old business, President Theresa announced that the Alumni website is up and running and prior newsletters are posted. We also have a facebook page. The roll call of classes were read. The oldest graduate was recognized as Edith Marie Switzer Cox from the Class of 1936. She was presented with a centerpiece. There was one three generation family in attendance: Bonnie Burns Ridgeway ‘69, Kathy Ridgeway Smith ’89 and Mikaela Smith 2016. There were no members of the Class of 1941 in attendance, the 75th year class. Connie Richards Seiter introduced the Class of 1966, the 50th year class. Rob Warren introduced his fellow classmates of the Class of 1991, the 25th year class. Mrs. Trista VanDuzer, Technology Director, introduced the class of 2016. Each of the graduating seniors told of their future plans. Dr. Brian Hartwell, Superintendent, and Mrs. VanDuzer presented the following scholarships to members of the Class of 2016: Alumni scholarships in the amount of $500 each to Bailey Hilton, Austin Monson, Gabe Aguilar, Anisha Friot, Morgan Jordal, Jenny Shampine, Mikaela Smith, and Jordan Finnerty; Harold Youker Athletic Awards in the amount of $500 each to James Flower and Samantha Dawes; Lura M. Sharp Scholarship in the amount of $1500 to Jenny Shampine; John Ben Snow Alumni Sscholarships in the amount of $500 each to Nick Visco, Katherine Scranton, Samantha Nutting, and Seth Lallier. Dr. Hartwell thanked the Alumni Association for their generosity and continued support of our students.

The Lura M. Sharp trophy was presented to the Class of 1966 with 44% of their living members in attendance at the banquet. The Henry Mathison trophy was also presented to the Class of 1966 with the largest number of members of any class with 26 in attendance. Under new business, Shawn Doyle announced that Pulaski will hold Old Home Days on the first weekend in August with a live band and other special entertainment. Several classes have reunions planned for that weekend as well. President Theresa presented the slate of officers for the 2016-2017 year: President – Theresa Clark-Switzer ‘82, Vice President – Charlotte Summerville Degaetano ’59, Treasurer – Tammie Frank Wilson ’82, Recording Secretary – Lisa Hilton Farmer ’97, Corresponding Secretary – Barbara Mathison Pulvermiller ’80. Executive Committee – Mary Lou King Morrow ’47, Judy Schreiner Parker ’59, Kip Hilton ’74, Margaret Mathison Weigel ’67, Ted Williams ’77, Shawn Doyle ’84, Laura Brow Denny “88, Grace Gibbs Friot ’86, Jennifer Griffith Edick ’90, Tiffany Hax Craig ’04, Ellen Wansink Lowery ’83, Kevin Stewart ’94. A motion was made by Irene Rindos and seconded by Charley Hinman to accept the slate. Memorial toasts were made by five classes. Brian Murtha ’66 toasted his class saying how happy to see all those in attendance, proud of those who came from all over, coast to coast. By far the best class to ever get out of Pulaski and for all those who are here – cheers! Always remember home and how 19 members have been lost since graduation. Stanley Hinman ’61 honored, acknowledged and remembered Dave Richardson and Maureen Fox. Rob Warren ’91 spoke to the Class of 2016. He advised them to remember 2016, spend the remainder of the summer with their friends making memories because 25 years goes by in the blink of an eye! Michele North Erbacher ’76 toasted her class as a fun, loud, well knit group that stuck together, grew apart, changed, came back together and remained friends. “To your old friends who have become new friends”. Hannah Gruelich ‘2016 thanked everyone for their support – Alumni, Teachers and Community. Shawn Doyle ’84 made a toast thanking everyone for their support. After the singing of the last verse of the Alma Mater, Pastor Waggoner gave the benediction. A motion was made by Bob MacDonald, seconded by Charley Hinman, to adjourn the meeting.

Greater Pulaski Community Fund- The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund is a union of gifts contributed by the people of the Pulaski community that makes grants to support programs and projects of importance to the area. The Pulaski Fund is a component fund of the Central New York Community Foundation. Since its inception in 1992, the Fund has provided more than $245,000 in grants to benefit the Pulaski community. People can learn more about the fund and contribute at www.cnycf.org/Pulaski. The Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund annually awards over $15,000 in grants to qualifying Pulaski-area nonprofit organizations:

We have uploaded ten years of past newsletters, and will have this newsletter on the site very soon. We hope to add photos and current news as we receive things to add. Pulaski and Half-Shire Historical Societies work to keep history alive

Returning alumni are encouraged to visit our two vibrant historical societies and their museums.

The Pulaski Historical Society at 3428 Maple Ave. in Pulaski is the custodian of many alumni archives, along with being a repository for local history of all types. The Society conducts tours by appointment, and can be reached by email at: [email protected]. PHS conducts interesting monthly program meetings, and produces a monthly newsletter and facebook page.

Half-Shire Historical Society, located in the former Richland School, represents the surrounding nine townships of northern Oswego County, the Lewis County Twp. of Osceola and the Oneida County towns of Florence and Camden. The Society concentrates greatly on genealogical research. Half-Shire produces a 12-page newsletter 3-4 times a year, and conducts monthly lunch meetings in Richland, and annual spring and fall dinner dances that are open to the public. 3rd annual Pulaski Old Home Days August 4-6, 2017 Many Alumni attended as the Class of 1986 held a very successful reunion in the former Earls Bar building across from the park. This year we may have a new business in that building that will complement the 3rd annual event. Check out Facebook under Pulaski New York Old Home Days, where information on the upcoming event will be posted. Dates are set for August 4-6, 2017 in Pulaski’s south Park. There will be live music Friday and Saturday nights from the bandstand with a waterslide in the park and bounce house for kids. Several food venders will also be present This year the Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department will be joining us to bring back the parade through town on Saturday night!

Neighboring Alumni Societies and their Banquet Plans Sandy Creek Central- The 126th annual Banquet and Meeting of the Alumni Association of the Sandy Creek Central School District will be on Friday, June 23rd at the high school cafeteria. The night begins with a school tour at 5 pm, Wall of Distinction ceremony at 6:15 followed by dinner at 7 pm. 5th Annual Alumni Bus Trip Last year we ran another successful bus tour around town and

up to Salmon River Falls by way of Altmar, with stops at Half-Shire Historical (Old Richland School) for a light lunch and Pulaski Historical Society for dessert!---it was a huge success and a lot of fun! We are planning again to offer this free bus trip—with three buses-- around the village of Pulaski and Town of Richland on Saturday June 24,

2017. This year three buses will depart Lura Sharp School by “the old bus garage” at 11 am. The same plan is set out, with some updates to the tour. Shawn Doyle, Margaret Weigel and Ted Williams will be your guides! While at Half-Shire a light lunch will again be offered. To the 2017 Annual Meeting

The 128th Annual meeting of the Pulaski Alumni Association will be held Saturday June 24, 2017 at the Pulaski Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department, Lake St., Pulaski. A Buffet featuring BBQ chicken, baked ziti, tossed salad, pasta salad, rolls, vegetable medley, baked beans, and dessert will be offered at a cost of $15.00 per person beginning at 6:00PM. A cocktail reception will be held prior to dinner at 5:00PM and the annual meeting of the Association will begin immediately following dinner at 7:00PM. Honored Classes this year include 1942, 1967 and 1992 as well as the present graduating class of 2017. Prepaid reservations are a must and should be returned to the Treasurer no later than Monday June 5, 2017. IT IS IMPERATIVE if you plan on attending the banquet that you have reservations ahead of time, all checks MUST BE MADE OUT TO: PACS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION---NOT to your class representative. ___Yes!
