    RECORD COMPENSATIIG CONTROL BOX

The Model C-2 Control Box js intend d specifically for u~e with the Pultee Model PC-IO Record Com eflsating Amplifier . When used togethe t ey c0mprise a sys~em ~apable of accepting signal from any magn~tic cartridge, n °roduc fig the necessary playback compensation cur e and supplying the si~nal or use at line level in 600 ohms.

By means of he selector switch, the user of the Model C-2 i s able to select rom among the follo~ing playback curves :

    FLAT EUROPEAN RIAA NAB NOISY

The FLAT curve pro ides an RlAA respons below 1000 cps aJJd fl t freque cy response above 10('U cps . C Tve C-l 2(11,561 .

    T e ~JROPEA CtTVe p ~vides a 250 cps t~rnover on the low end and 6 db of attenuation at 10 kes on he h1gh end. Curve C-1,201,562.

The RIA cu~ve is officially de'ined by he Record Indusry Association 0 America, Inc. It also is a~cepted as the

NAHTB standard, and is identical to the AES sta ,dard. Curve C-l 201,56).

    The NAB curve is the lateral c rve plot~e s Fig. 2 in "NARTB Rec~rding a d R~produ~ ng tandards " as .3 opted 942 and amended April 1949 and June 1950 . Curve C-l 201,564 .

The GrSY curve proves an RIAA respo s_ elow 2500 cps. The high end is sharply attenuated abole 350} c~s. Curve C-l ;>0 ,565 .

When used in conj nction ~lth the Model PC-10 Amplifier, the RlAA and .NAB playback curves introduced oy the Model C- 2 Control Box will deviate less than ± l db from ~he offi ia1 curves at any point.

The gain of the system a 1rOO cps ' tIl vary ess than ± l Q as Lte selector wit~h is operate~ from RlAA to any other position.

The Model C- 9 Contro Box consists of a ~etal box which contains the passive equalizer networks a dial plate, a knob and a 30 Inch cable ~ith octal

lug attached . Two 8-32 bin ing head mach1ne cre~s are supplied for mountjng the Model C-2 .

A Mounting Template and Assembly Drawing is provided to facilitate drilling of the toree required mounting holes and the assembly o~ the control box in the turntable cabinet .

The C-2 Control Box is well hielded and so designed as to be r~l~tively i sensitive to alternattng current fields . evertheless, it is always desirable to 10 ate the control box as far from he turntable motor as is aetical, consistent wi t h oper3ting convenience.

After -he control box has been mounted it j s on.y recessary to insert the octal plu~ ~nto the "Compensa tor t! socket on the Model PC-IO Amplifier Cha sis and the control box is ready for use .
