Dear Park Place Families and Community,

Today marks the mid-way point for the 2015-16 school year. This week has been busy (and perhaps a bit stressful) as students are comple�ng projects, assignments, and taking semester tests. I hope many of our students will be here on Thursday, February 4th celebra�ng at our a�er school social. Please don’t forget Friday, Feb 5th there is no school as this is a non student day for the Semester Break.

This upcoming Monday, February 8th, most students will be moving to their new classroom. Cleaning out backpacks, revisi�ng the use of the agenda, and se�ng goals for the rest of the school year can help start the 2nd semester on a posi�ve note!

While we have half of the school year to go, prepara�ons for the 2016-17 school year have also begun. On Tuesday February 9th, next year’s 6th graders are invited to a Park Place Middle School 6th Grade Info night that starts at 6:30 pm. On Wednesday February 10th beginning at 6 PM– Monroe High School will be hos�ng their ‘prospec�ve’ parent night. It is an opportunity for the class of 2020 to get a glimpse of life at MHS. Registra�on for next year for all our students will be happening the following week at PPMS during the school day.

Finally, Park Place is proud to announce our district’s 1st registered Green Team (under the supervision of science teachers Maura Hartway and Sco� Holland)! This group of students are working to encourage posi�ve environmental changes within our school to acquire cer�fica�on through Washington Green Schools. Their main focus for first semester was Waste and Recycling. They have analyzed our garbage vs. recycling percentages, looked at areas on campus with high traffic pa�erns in need of recycling bins, and realized a need for more informa�on on what our school can recycle. They look forward to making a las�ng change!
