VORTECH PUMPSTATIONSToday’s fast-track building methods and the need for off-sitefabrication have resulted in an increased need for packaged pump stations.

With this in mind, Dutypoint are continuously monitoring currentlegislation and building standard requirements to enable us tosupply products that not only comply but are innovative. This inturn makes the whole procedure of ordering a pump stationthrough to installation very simple and cost effective for ourcustomers.

These advanced packages are designed, manufactured andassembled in our own factory and delivered to site ready to be placedin suitable excavation and connected to the relevant drainagepipework.

Our GRP tanks can be buried to depths of 10m or more and can bemade with special resins to offer very good resistance to corrosivechemicals and effluent fluids.

Vortech™ polyethylene packaged pump stations are an innovativesolution to situations where it is preferable or essential to keep civilwork and installation to a minimum. The stations are moulded frompolyethylene and are factory assembled with all in-tank fittingsconnected before dispatch. Their lightweight polyethyleneconstruction means that they are easily transportable to site andallow fast and simple installation.

Polyethylene pump stations have long been recognised as havingsuperior fluid handling properties. With a choice of single or dualpumps these packaged pump stations can be used anywhere fromsingle households to residential developments, schools, shoppingcentres and caravan parks.

The pumps are mounted on a curved base, which ensures that thetanks remain silt and sludge free, with no square corners toencourage solids build-up. The single or dual pumps are cast iron orstainless steel and pipework can be a choice of stainless steel ductile iron, Polyethylene or sch.80 PVC for increased corrosionresistance.

Valves are epoxy coated cast iron or brass and can be mounted eitherin the tank or in a separate valve chamber with overpumpingconnection as required. Level control can be by ultrasonics, floatswitches or probes and a wide choice on control panels andenclosures completes the package.

A full sewers for adoption package complying with 7th edition can beoffered to meet the specific needs of your water authority.

CONCRETE SHUTTERING SYSTEM

Dutypoint’s Innovative, pre-packaged pump station shutteringsystem has been developed to ease installation and reduceenvironmental impact. Landfill space is constantly getting tighter,costs are spiralling and quarrying is having an ever increasing impacton the environment in which we live.

It is extremely difficult for even an experienced excavator driver todig a circular hole and particularly where an excavation is deeper, asheet piling system is used, requiring a square or rectangular hole tobe dug.

This results in considerable excess muckaway and in turn excessiveamounts of concrete/backfill material are required.The Patented concrete spacer system is fully adjustable to suit anytank diameters as well as tank surround concrete thickness.

PUMPS AND PUMP ARRANGEMENTS

The pump is a key part of the packaged system. Dutypoint hasselected a range of pumps which suit almost any application.

The tanks have been designed to incorporate single, twin or eventhree pumps with a wide range of impellers including vortex,channel, open, multichannel or single, macerator, and cutter.

Pumps can be mounted on a guiderail system with automaticconnection to the discharge elbow,which is all pre-assembled to thepipework. Alternatively the pumpscan be free standing.If a customer prefers to incorporatea specific type of pump into thepackage, Dutypoint is able to meetany special requirements.

DUTYPOINT MANUFACTURING STANDARDS - A COMMITMENT TO QUALITY

Our GRP tanks are manufactured to BS 4994 under a strict ISO9001:2008 quality control system with checks at all stages ofconstruction. The chop-hoop filament winding process produces notonly circumferential strength but also strong longitudinal strength.This method means that shells can be cut for manholes andpipework without any undue loss in strength and ensures that deepburial depths can be safely accommodated.

AFTER SALES AND SERVICE

Having invested in a pump package fromDutypoint, we are committed to ensurethat it performs satisfactorily for a longtime. With this in mind Dutypoint offer amaintenance contract to ensure that yourequipment is regularly checked andoverhauled. Visits can be yearly, 6-monthly or at any other interval to suityour particular needs. They will include a20-point check on pumps, panels andequipment and can include a jetdown anddesludge of the pump chamber. A fullreport is then issued. A wide range ofspares is available from Dutypointenabling us to despatch spares overnightto ensure your equipment is rapidlyrepaired in the event of a breakdown. Allrepairs are carried out by our approvedrepair centres.

Dutypoint operates from equipped servicevans to carry out all on-site service andrepair work.

BUBBLE AERATION SYSTEMS FOR EFFICIENT OXYGEN TRANSFER

Dutypoint offers a wide range of efficient aeration productsfulfilling a variety of oxygen requirements in wastewaterapplications. Oxygen is transferred most efficiently withpressurised air, which is diffused through highly porousdiscs of EPDM (Ethylene-Propylene-Di-Monomer) orceramic, mounted on pipes attached to the tank floor. Alarge quantity of fine bubbles is released through thesediscs. The discs offer highly efficient oxygen transfer withlow head losses and uniform air distribution throughoutthe entire system.

SOLUTIONS FOR PERFECT MIXING RESULTS

Mixers are used in a wide range of mixing duties such assolids suspension, liquid blending and de-stratification.Submersible mixers have a compact design, whichtogether with our installation methods makes them easyto install both in new and existing tanks.

Unlike their dry-mounted counterparts, sub-mersiblemixers provide unlimited freedom of positioning andorientation. By utilising this freedom, the mixer jet isallowed to develop and create efficient mixing of theentire volume.

Compact mixers are made of stainless steel and provide acost-efficient alternative for most mixing applications.The slow speed, large diameter mixers will gently mixlarge volumes with remarkably low power consumption.

DUTYPOINT STEADY FLOW CONTROLLER

The Dutypoint Steady Flow Controller (DSFC) has been designed foruse where a flow restriction into a sewer has been specified.

Without a ‘DSFC’ large storage tanks are required to store sewage orsurface water that can only be pumped away at a maximum flowrate governed by the local water authority.

As the tank empties the static head increases and the pumped flowreduces; therefore the flow rate is only pumping at max allowabledischarge flow when the tank is full. This reduction of flow in somecases can be as much as 60% reduction in flow rate.

The ‘DSFC’ is designed to automatically control the pumps to run atmax allowable discharge flow rate via a variable speed driveregardless of the static head which can reduce the storage volume ofthe tank by more than 25%.

Large sums of money can be saved in excavation costs and also thecost of the tank.
