Every Superior custom cab is designed and built with a

structural cage design to provide maximum protection and

comfort for firefighters. Structural extrusions including sub-

frames, a full flange wishbone frame rail, center uprights, and

crossbeam extrusions are engineered for optimum performance.

Horizontal and vertical supports handle severe vertical loads

which can occur in accidents. The perimeter skin material is

made of 3/16 aluminum alloy sheet for added strength.

One of Superiors most revolutionary innovations is our original

all-aluminum, extruded body. This lightweight and corrosion

resistant body is designed to be an operating member of your

department for future generations, providing many years of

trouble free service. The all-welded, tongue and groove design is

superior to a bolted body that can vibrate loose.

Our unique all-aluminum, high strength extrusions reduce

accident damage to limited areas that are replaceable

as modules.

The body module is isol ated fromthe steel chassis frame rails toreduce road shock and protectfrom galvanic corrosion.

cradled in a floating mount system to

reduce tank stress and extend service

Our wiring is GXL flame retardant, function imprinted

every 3 and color coded for easy troubleshooting.

To ensure your Superior vehicle retains its classic colors and look,

the Weather Jacket corrosion prevention system is part of our

paint process. Weather Jacket is applied to bare aluminum

surfaces prior to the paint application. Weather Jacket inhibits

the ability of the aluminum oxide layer to absorb water, and

it acts as a bonding surface for the paint by etching itself into

the aluminum.

Additionally, we implement a four-step paint process using Akzo-

Nobels (Sikkens) high solid products for a long lasting and

attractive finish. Superiors paint system carries a 10-year warranty.

In an emergency, each unit must perform. The ability to save lives and protect property is

essential. But, there is also a need for comfort in a job where responding to crises are everyday

events. The Cyclone II offers a roomy floor to ceiling height, a low overall engine cover height

and an open cab for comfortable seating and excellent visibility. Padded upholstery and deluxe

insulation add to the comfort factor, making a tough job a lot better.

Features of the Cyclone II include a full featured electrical load management system that is NFPA

compliant, electrical components located above floor level away from road spray, an internal and

external check system and the abil it y t o verify load shedding sequences without draini ng the bat tery.

popular medium door, t he long door and

the extended length, seating from six to

ten fully equipped firefighters. Vista

Superior has int roduced t he newest member of i t s fi re service speciali zed cab/ chassis product famil y - t he Typhoon. The Typhoonculminates from fire department input and requests for a reliable, durable, safe, and value-based cab engineered and built to the

traditional high standards offered by Superior.

Ut il izing h igh strength aluminum extrusions and 3/ 16" aluminum plate, t he st ructural int egrit y of t he new Typhoon matches thatof similar Superior products - including meeting the ECE R-29 crashworthiness standard as witnessed by a third-party independentprofessional engineer on February 24, 2001. The classic roll-cage design as highlighted by two interior center posts and numerous

extrusions on the cab roof, roof perimeter, and back wall bring the confidence and security found with other Superior cab designs.The cab structure also has a 10-year warranty as standard.

The interior features ergonomics and styling that are comforting to the occupants as well as pleasing to the eye. The Officer's seatposition offers exceptional legroom, easy access to many controls, a padded arm rest, a generous glove compartment, a beverage

holder, and excellent ventilation for cooling and heating. Equally as efficient, the Driver's position provides ready access to allcontrols and an excellent dash layout for clear viewing of critical instrumentation.

I n t otal, t he new Typhoon provides seat ing capacit y of 4 t o 6 personnel. A

new cab air conditioning system provides abundant cold air for all occupantsto provide comfort en route to the scene and as an aid to firefighter recoverywhile on scene.

For exterior styling, the new Typhoon has a unique front grille that allows

ample airflow and a modern appearance for the new millennium. Superior'sexcellent four-step paint process, using Akzo-Nobel's (Sikkens) products,

provides a long-lasting and attractive finish. Additionally, with Superior'sexclusive Weather Jacket corrosion prevention system, the Typhoon has a10-year paint and lifetime perforation warranty as standard (see actua

warranties for complete details). Currently, the chassis is available with a330 bhp to 370 bhp diesel engine.
