Jubilant

Adjective Filled with joy

Synonyms: overjoyed, exultant, joyful / antonyms: downcast

Well done to the 207 pupils who entered last week's competition and congratulations to Kelcey Pedley from 10CO: “Indignant murmurs rose from the kingsmen, and the dominance of the empire was only saved from their fury by the intervention of the emperor himself”

Your challenge: Create the most interesting, lively and imaginative sentence you can using this word. Submit your entry in the box in the SLC.

Numeracy Challenge 29 This is Question 1 from the UK Mathematics Trust Junior Mathematical Challenge 2019 that was sat by some pupils last week. How many minutes are there from 23:35 today to 01:15 tomorrow? A: 100 B: 110 C: 120 D: 130 E: 140 Last week Amelia Fry, from 7 Cottam, found that there were 11 females that ran in Mr Binns’ survey. The key was creating a two way table and filling in the values before adding and subtracting to find the missing figure. There 184 entries but only around 10% found the correct answer.

To enter the Weekly Numeracy Challenge, fill in an entry slip, and place

into the Numeracy Challenge box in Mr Binns’ Classroom or complete the

General Notices Closure for Bank Holiday: The school closes as normal at 3.15 pm on Friday, 3rd May and is closed on Monday, 6th May for the Bank Holiday but reopens as normal on Tuesday, 7th May at 8.55 am. Exams: Please be considerate towards pupils sitting exams during this term and be very quiet in the vicinity of the exam venues: - the sports hall, room 4, room 6 and the pastoral room. Do not gather in the doorways at either end of the sports hall at break or lunchtime. BBQ - We will be holding our annual school barbeque on Thursday, 9th May during lunchtime. This is a very popular and enjoyable event and also marks our Year 11 pupils who will be leaving us to commence study leave on Monday, 20th May. Tickets are on sale in the dining room during break from Tuesday to Thursday and need to be bought by Tuesday, 7th May. Tickets cost £2.20 and you can choose from a meat or vegetarian burger with a variety of salads, a cookie and a drink. Enjoy live music from our talented musicians as well as the excellent food. Please note that there will be no other food served during lunchtime on Thursday, 9th May - the dining room will be closed and the Qube will only be open for drinks, cakes, biscuits and Slush.

BBQ (Thursday, 9th May): No other food will be available to purchase over the lunchtime period in the Dining Hall on the day of the BBQ as the till system will not be in use. However, extra drinks, cakes, biscuits and slush will be on sale at the Qube in addition to the BBQ. Tickets will be exchanged for the meal ordered. On the day of the BBQ, food will be set out near the Qube. This area will be coned off and a queuing area set out. The rota for food collection will be Years 11, 10, 9, 8 and 7. Lunchtime may be extended with the beginning and end signaled by bells. The start and end of lunch will vary according to weather conditions. As the BBQ is ‘cooked to order’, no refunds will be given. If the weather is poor, the BBQ will be served in the dining room and the music will be in the main hall. Safety: Due to work being undertaken on the dyke at the far end of the playing field there will be no access onto Green Drive for the foreseeable future. You will need to exit via the YMCA gate.

Mr. Grice I look forward to enjoying our annual barbeque with you. It is always a great celebration which brings us together as a school family. Please make sure that you get your ticket before the deadline (Tuesday, 7th May).
